Program Update: Temporary pause on OINP “base” stream applications

Annual provincial nomination targets are determined by the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) received a base stream allocation of 2,500 nominations for 2015.

OINP has exhausted its base stream allocation for 2015, and the program is unable to issue further nominations under its base streams until January 1, 2016. If you have already submitted an application to the OINP but have not yet received a decision, your application will be finalized in 2016.

If your employer pre-screen application has been approved, the OINP will continue to accept the corresponding nominee application(s) under the Foreign Worker and International Student with a Job Offer streams.

Between November 16th, 2015 and December 31, 2015, the program will not accept any new Employer pre-screen applications or applications under the Master’s and PhD streams. Any applications received during this time period will be returned to the applicant. The program welcomes new applications under these streams starting on January 1, 2016.

Thank you for your interest in the OINP.

Why 2500?? allocation for 2015 was 5200.

February 4, 2015

Every year, Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program's nomination target is capped by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. Ontario’s allocation for 2015 has been set at 5,200. This includes nominations for both PNP and Express Entry.

Ontario is currently developing its approach to Express Entry. Information will be posted on our website as soon as it becomes available.

Maybe they allocated 2500 for the "base stream" applications and 2700 for other streams (like express entry, investors etc)? It's so frustrating when we started the process back in April this year, yet I've seen people getting nominated within 6-8 weeks via express entry stream!! How is that fair??

my brother applied his pre screening and got approval after one year and one month

OINP called my employed few weeks ago and verified some info.
They said we should have an answer in 4-6 weeks.

Nothing yet! :-[

Still waiting..
We got mail form them in Oct to submit more document and we submitted it. Then in Dec my employer got call to know we still want to continue this application or not. My employer said yes and she said we will back to you if we need any more information.

It's almost 9 months now. Can anyone suggest me when they will send approval ?

THE AVERAGE WAITING TIME FOR PRE-SCREENING APPROVAL IS 11-12 MONTHS!

SO WAIT FOR FEW MORE DAYS AND YOU SHOULD HAVE AN ANSWER.
