And just to add to that, if you have worked legally for one year, full time, you can also apply under Canadian Experience Class.

Such that if anything goes wrong for any reason, you'll have yet another option to file a case.

Four years is a lot of time, imho you should not wait for PR to go to Canada

That is a good backup plan to apply under CEC after 1 year of work in Canada . But once again one more PR application to Canada ? An ultimate test of our patience . To me it looks like catch 22 situation .

You have good reason to worry abt and this seems concerns to all too.. MY WP was recently approved and in the letter associated with that says it can be extended 1 more time..i.e max 4 yrs...

BTW have you recd 2nd AOR yet ? ..I got one and in that they say it will be processed in 6 months from NDVO office.

Such that if your OWP expires while you are waiting for your PR, you can apply for the bridging work permit. For that you need to be in Canada.

1. Go now to Canada under OWP and Find work, but me only me will go. My worry is what if I am there already and PPR came in, what will I do?

Hi,

If you're in a good job, I suggest you to wait in your home country till you receive your PR. It is not easy to get a job in Canada if your resident status is in doubt. You will most likely get confused with temporary workers or refugees who are not entitled to receive the same benefits as a permanent resident. Organizations assisting newcomers to get absorbed in the labor pool will say that they can provide assisted help (introduction to potential employers) only if you're a permanent resident.

Additionally, there is currently no process to stamp passports with the PR visa within Canada. You will unnecessarily have to take lot of risks.

I guess good option is to wait too, but another confusion is when will you get your PR with current PFSO strike you never know how long this will take might take ..a year from now tooo to get this one so if you want to get in early going on WP might help too..

Others who are on WP there and got PR request will appreciate your response on how are u processing ahead in this.

I strongly agree with hoover and rp_tp. I have owp since March 2012, but it is of no use until and unless you dont have your pr. Unnecessary too much expenditure to move on temporary visa alongwith family. I would suggest wait for PR. Because the day you will receive pr decision, this visa will become null and void and if God forbid, sometjing happens to case we can not stay in cohntry on this OWP.

Just want to share my thoughts ,
May be it is preferred to have PR while applying for a job , but do you think it is very easy to get a job even with a PR
I think finding a job in Canada is a hard mission in both cases , Many people get to Canada with arranged employment
I think the sooner we get there the better as we need time to cope with the new life and know about life circumstances and rule of this country
we can not anticipate the immigration rules change , like what happened with people of the FSW (old applications backlog files )
Please share your thoughts and correct me if I am wrong

2. You will not qualify for the health benefits until you have an employment that guarantees 6 months of full time employment.

The job market in Canada is very small compared to the U.S. In Ontario for instance, you have to compete with 140 candidates for any decent job. And most of these 140 candidates have PR or citizenship status. You will need every possible help to get a job when you arrive in Canada. Not having the PR will certainly not be beneficial in your job hunt.

In my case the PR processing time of Amman Visa office is 32 months , which means approximately 3 years + 6 years as FSW ?? I applied My PR on November 2012,and My status is still "Application Received", that what makes me want to take my chances and start the life I have been waiting for 7 years ,setting your life on "Freez" is very boring and confusing situation ,
I think I will take my chances ,I am not counting at all on the government assistant ,which I do not believe is of great support for people who lived in Canada and looking for jobs ..and Yet I am still not sure if I am taking the right decision

So yes hoverback and rp_tp... You guys may have a valid point... But if struggle and waiting is something that is being done here while waiting for these PAFSO guys to finish off their strike.... Then I'd rather struggle in Canada for my job hunt rather than sitting idle here...

If you read first line from Hooverback , it says :

If this line is not applicable to any of us and or considering other factors which outweigh ( Waiting since so long and want to move to Canada at any cost, Living temporary life,Its getting boring at home country, Security issues at home country e.g in Syria / Egypt / Other risky Middle East places) and forces us to leave current job /country and move to Canada then we should move to Canada on this OWP .

Pros :
- You will be able to come to Canada at least once ( ir-respective PR is approved or not ) while we are waiting since so long.
- Understand what Canada is all about , its climate , culture, economy etc and is this what you were expecting after coming here.
- At least you will be able to try your luck in the Canadian job markete , may be you are lucky and land into a good or at least a survival job. So its worth to try it at least once.
- If CIC changes their mood they might take too long to process PR applications and may create another backlog which they might want to wipe out in future so at least u will be able to apply in CEC ( Canadian Experience Class etc ) ..

Cons :

- If our Passport request is coming , based upon the embassy where they are processing our application they will ask us to send our passports to home country, That step needs to be tackled : We have not discovered any remedy for that. Although some people have found that remedy but they are keeping that secret formula with them and do not want others to get benefited out of their research. Don't worry we will post it here once we are able to find its working solution.
- You will loose your good paying job at home country if you are mentally / financially satisfied there ( your may take leave without pay ).
- You will have to bear financial stress , as Canada is all about having $ in your pockets , if you do not have $ in your pockets life is not easy in Canada as every thing comes with $ here. ( So plan your budget.)

Suggestions to Mitigate Risks :

- I will suggest if there is a possibility take a Leave without Pay ( 2-3 Months ) from current job so that your job at home country is safe and you have some fall back plan in case you are not able to find a job which suits you in Canada .

- First come alone, Do not bring family with you unless they have not had any international holidays and you were saving some funds for Holidays abroad , because coming here without any job and bringing your wholefamily means you are on International holidays as you need to have a place to stay, spend for their daily expenses , pay for medical insurance / travel etc and you won't get medical insurance ( OHIP ) unless you have a full time job ( At least 6 months duration ) .

Summary :

So friends do your calculations and plan your trips / take risks accordingly. May GOD this Canadian dream becomes success for every one. Good Luck to All.
