Hi,

I've received AOR and support letter 2 days ago. I'm applying from Canada, so mails are received a bit sooner
Good day to all of us :)

Congrats. Do you mind letting us know when you submitted your PR application to Nova Scotia

I am not sure about other countries but if you are in one of the so called "third world" countries, you can not just walk in and get a WP at the port of entry. All this letter of support does is it makes you eligible to apply for OWP. That's it. You still have to apply for OWP by filling up all those forms.

PS - I have definitely become an expert at filling those forms. I can fill them now with my eyes closed 8)

I hope you will receive the paperwork soon and will not have to use these new skills for a long time :)

I called Opportunities Ontario and asked them what is the procedure for getting the work permit once we have our Support Letters. The answer was as follows:

We may apply for the work permit right at the border, however there is a possibility the border officer will not grant it for any particular reason. In other words - we can apply, and can have it approved or have it denied at the border. Thus, Opportunities Ontario recommend using the standard CIC work permit application process, rather than applying right at the border.

Thanks God i just received Letter of Support from Manitoba. I already had filled all the forms, Insha Allah i will file my application to Newyork Office this Saturday.

Hi atinsingh, PR application. They received mine last Oct 19. At this point I don't know what is the next step. I know one person who has not sent the PR application and yet she was able to recieve a WP letter. I have not received anything. Thanks.

In the Facebook I asked about whether my spouse can use the letter to get WP or not, and the answer was :

The work permit support letter sent to you can be used to apply for a temporary work permit for you and your immediate family members if you wish to come to Ontario sooner while your PR application is being processed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

Hi everybody and thanks
Some info from my letter:There is no need for Job Offer and there is no time frame to apply for WP visa. The only thing I'm not sure about is if we get the WP visa and go to Canada we won't have any support from the CIC. For example when you get PR visa you are going to have free English courses, classes to prepare for work,... some banks have special programs for Newcomers and so on, but when we enter Canada with WP visa we can not use any of above facilities and it's not good. It's a little risky I think.

Hi everyone,

I received my support letter yesterday as well :). However, I share the concerns mentioned by Mariam above and others earlier. With people starting to receive AORs soon, difference in benefits associated with PR vs. WP and possible difficulty in handling PR documentation/formalities after shifting to Canada on WP, I am still undecided whether to go through the hassle of applying for Work Permit at this stage :-\.

I will probably wait for a month or so to see if I receive AOR in a timely manner before going ahead with WP application. Would appreciate if others share opinion in this regard.

Thanks,
Fahad

Getting work permit is easy but getting a job is a hassle.

I would prefer to wait for my PR card to be processed rather apply for work permit now and leave my job now to go to canada.

Can someone please explain that:

If my spouse apply for trv or open work permit alongwith my application and dont join me till 6 months, does it has some negative impact or it is ok.

I think it should not affect at all, even you go canada 6 months later also, PR process is independent.

Thanks atinsingh.

Does the UCI is same for me and my husband, or i should leave blank for my spouse application for open work permit.

Hi Malisa,

Its different for you and your spouse, so leave it blank. I am assuming this is your first application for WP or any Visa for your spouse.

Thanks Kia,

No i am fsw backlog reduction pilot applicant and this is my application of open work permit for manitoba. Actually i got the UCI from spouse medical request form, it is different from mine.

Do you have any idea it is better to apply open work permit for both or he should apply for TRV.
