Hi all, I have been following the forum silent for a while.
Here is my situation, I have done my Medicals on July 30th 2010, my file was transferred to Seattle on Nov 17th 2010 to Seattles office. I got a request from them on Jan 14th 2011 for the DOB Certificates which I sent on Feb 1st, I got a mail today requesting FBI Certificates for me and my wife stating they expired on FEB 20TH. All of you know how long they take, I am worried that by the time I send the FBI Reports my Medicals would get expired or I wouldnt have enough time to get stamped or do Landing. I dont understand one thing, do the FBI Certs have to be valid by the time they request the Passport, I thought they should be valid by the time they reached them. I just missed it by a week, thats BS, I have applied for the New FBI certs today but was just wondering if I can email the Seattle office explaining that they were valid when they first acted on my application. Please post you thoughts

That's a very bad situation.. try to talk to the CIC guys and see if you can buy some time. Also talk to the FBI guys and see if you can speed up the process. Good Luck!

May be you can write a request to FBI stating reasons why you require it faster and pay by credit card.
Also mail visa office stating that you have applied for FBI and it takes 3 months minimum for the certificate.

Aggree with Sinbad. You may also want to remind the visa officer that you have submitted FBI report and it was good at the time of the submission. The officer may take another look at your file and you may be waived for your new FBI submission. Good luck.

Thanks Sinbad, I did call the FBI but they dont expedite I guess, I did send the CreditCard details for the fee. I have also asked my lawyer to email Seattle's office asking them for more time and if possible reconsider as it isnt my fault that it took this long and for god's sake its just been a week that the certificate expired, and from what I see from the forum there isnt a steadfast rule that they have to be active until the time of passport request. I guess the Officer is just playing hardball.

will just have to wait and see how things playout. Thanks guys

Thanks for sharing your situation. its ridiculous why the hell are taking so long for processing our files and then our docs are expiring. I just looked the copy of FBi doc i sent and it also expired on 02/21/2011. now when i am expecting PPR, it might really be a request for FBI again. and that needs another2-3 months.
Anyways you gave good info, atleast i am going to file for FBI in 1-2 days and try to get ready for it.

Please File New FBI Clearance if you are waiting for Long

Hi guys as seen with one of the guys , whose FBI clearance expired and they are asking new ones. FBI does not have a fast expedited process to get them. So i think its worth spending some bucks and apply for new FBI Clearance untill we wait for the PPR's.

In case they need it we will save some time.

Just a suggestion.

i am not sure..... may depend on officer. i don't think they give you long enough.
