for ppl who are getting ready to show Proof of funds are u making them up based on below numbers??

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

This is the only guideline we have, since AINP never specified anything in the first place.

While sending Appl Forms to CIC, there was a form that asked how much funds would you be bringing?? Say suppose i mention X amount at that time when i applied... VO wouldnt be expecting me to show the same right?

For those of you who are getting request to show proof of fund, did you guys filled this form when you first applied @ CIC. Check #4. I think you should show fund what you put in #4.

Their main intention is to make sure you can sustain yourself in the interim period between landing and finding a job. I personally think you should be fine as long as you meet the above specifications. Its been almost 2 years since this whole process started and things have changed, like exchange rates etc. So, I don't think they will hold you to the exact amount, as long as you can demonstrate to them that you can support yourself and your dependents.

Yes, we did fill this. But, we were not required to back it up.

your are right chigirl, until few weeks back they were never asking for it. But now Detroit Embassy bought this into picture.... to me it looks like they are finding ways to delay the process....

If i have some funds/investments in my Home country that are under my dad name what would be the best way to show these??

Below Link has instructions on what's need while applying for a PR at Buffalo Embassy.

No 10 is the settlement Funds Section, which doesn't apply to Provincial Nominees.

YOU signed the document with the fund amount YOU put and you are saying you are not required to back it up? Look, I'm not a Canada immigration expert or a lawyer and this proof of fun issue might not even be an issue later on BUT if they asked you to show the fund amount that you initially put, I'm pretty sure you will be required to back it up. And DKS, the link I put clearley says it is for economic class and Provincial Nominee. However looking at the link you provided it is confusing.

But, you have to understand a lot of us have our funding in US Dollars. Since then the value of the US $$ has gone down in comparison to the Canadian dollar, which means we have less Canadian $$ in terms of current rates. As long as we are able to meet the minimum specified we should be fine.

You need to be able to show the specified minimum in liquid assets - meaning $$ you can expend.

Calm down :)

Did CIC ask us to send bank statements etc? I would like to know how many AINP applicants actually sent bank statements showing their exact funds.

If CIC wanted any kind of back up, they would have mentioned so. As far as I am concerned CIC or any other immigration agency is pretty specific when asking for documents like these. Like I mentioned in one of my other posts, when I sent in my application for a work permit for another country, they were clear to state what they needed - bank statements, W2s, paystubs etc so they could triangulate the information.

Did you get any documents request yet?
Let me know If you did or when you do.
Thanks
