Online TRV Application delayed (November applicant)

I applied for the Temporary resident visa online on the 1st November, 2013. They are yet to process my application and haven't even requested for my passport yet. I am beginning to worry now as the website says the online processing time is 10 days only and they are working on applications submitted on the 4th December 2013. I already had to cancel my flight on the 24th December because I couldn't get the TRV on time. Is there anyone who has applied around October/November and experienced the same delay?

if you look closely on processing time. Then it was updated on Dec 27th 2013. and they are currently looking at the application as of Nov. 11th 2013. I am referring to Online application which are processed via Ottawa. However, there is no specific as to which case they pick based on many people facing similar issues.

The processing time that you are talking about is for the visitor. I applied for the new trv (temporary resident visa) for which they are processing applications received by December 4, 2013.

Hi All

I had applied for my wife's visa (TRV) online on 3rd December, 2013. The processing times were 7 days for an online application at that time. I booked my tickets for 9th January, 2014. I did not get the passport request yet. Anyway I gave up on her visa here in Canada and decided to travel without her visa because getting a passport request, passport reaching Ottawa and getting back the passport with the stamping before 9th January is definitely impossible.

My question here is :
Can we send her passport to Indian visa office for stamping from India in case if the passport request comes from CPP - Ottawa in next few days?

Please help me guys as I don't want to spend 2-3 days of filling the applications and spending another $ 150 towards her visa again.

Any person who wish to travel to Canada as a Tourist applies for TRV (Temporary Resident Visa).
Following is the extract from the CIC website:

"Unless they are citizens of a visa-exempt country, individuals who wish to enter Canada for a temporary purpose, such as tourists, temporary foreign workers (work permits) and international students (study permits) must apply for and be granted a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV)."
Also, check the link on CIC which mentions the Time line. It might get updated today.

Unfortunately you can not do that. I was thinking of that same option but when I asked CIC, they said I would have to cancel my application in Ottawa and re-apply through a Canadian Visa office abroad.

Thanks a lot for your reply Akhan. But if I wait until the application is approved online, would that still be a problem sending passport to Indian visa office and get it stamped?

Hi Kunishsa,

Yes, it would still be a problem. Even if the application is approved online, the only place you can get the passport stamped would be in Ottawa as that's where you initially applied.

I applied my trv online oct 17,2013 but until now jan 9,2014 still no response .I even have valid new workpermit here in canada.so disappointed .

PASSPORT RECEIVED 30 OCT 2013 AT OTTAWA VIA PAPER APPLICATION RECEIVED ON 10 JAN 2013 FROM OTTAWA VIA REGULAR MAIL.
I FORGOT TO SEND RETURN COURIER INITIALLY BUT THAN DECIDED TO SEND ON 30 DEC 2013 AND IT REACHED AT OTTAWA 2 JANUARY 2014.
SAME DAY THEY STAMPED VISA AND POSTED ON 3 JAN 2014.

I GOT PASSPORT HAPPY BUT LOSS MY 25$ FOR RETURN COURIERS WHICH WERE OF NO USE AT ALL.....LEARNED THE LESSON.

I sent my online on Dec. 6, 2013 and still waiting for the passport request, others have had better luck with speedy processes....still impatiently waiting.

Even my application submiited on Dec 30 2013 till now no passport request recevied and today I have verified and processing application submitted on Jan 28 2014.

• Your passport must be valid for the duration of your expected length of stay in Canada.
• Please note that we cannot issue a visa beyond the expiry date on the passport.
Your passport must be received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada within 30 days from the date of this letter. Failure to do so could result in the refusal of your application. Please ensure that a copy of this letter is included with your passport.
