I wonder why some people do what they do. Our home was built in 2005, so it's by no means old. There's only one bath/shower. To install the shower curtain rod, they drilled through the tile to attach a really crappy rod (it's all rusty, which is why "change the shower curtain rod" was high on the honey-do list), and then they GLUED the metal bits to the wall, like the screws weren't enough? Not sure what kind of gymnastics they had planned to do with that bar, but it sure was a pain in the rump to change.

My husband, in is infinite wisdom, reattached the threshold with our doormat underneath it. Now it won't slide.

It also won't ever be going into the washing machine or hung out on the fence.

Oh wow! I hope you managed to hide your giggles!

My ex-husband once installed the washer and dryer in our laundry room with the door open...he had to take BOTH out to be able to shut the door (it was the interior door to the garage, not one we'd want to leave open) and then reinstall them.

Here's a bump for the new members who just sent their applications :D

This is now the redneck do it yourself home improvement thread.

I shall lead us to victory. With duct tape.

:D

Duct tape is actually required to change some of the lightbulbs in our home.

Also, I ran over an extension cord. With a snowblower. On the first day of spring. They should just send me the PR card...how much more Canadian can you get?!?

Have you changed all your food items to the maple flavored version yet?

*sigh* If CIC monitors these forums, what I'm about to say may derail my PR application completely. I prefer fake syrup to real maple syrup. *covers face in shame* Fake syrup is thicker and...I don't know, syrupier to me. My Canadian mother-in-law is on my side.

Also, while I might eat poutine once in a while, I don't crave it. I suck at converting to Canadianism!

I don't like maple either. It's.... gross.... I do like maple syrup - my grandfather made it. Anything else maple, NTY!!!!

I don't really like Nanaimo bars either (or however that's spelled).

Not the biggest gravy fan - and I lived in Georgia.

Hey, I'm an Okie (not born and bred, but moved there when I was 10) who hates Dr. Pepper and okra. I guess I'm just naturally defiant. I haven't found much food-wise in Canada/Québec that I really love. Up here, most of the food is too bland or sweet for my liking. I've had some good food in Québec (ville) and Montréal, but it was good Indian food, or Thai food, or a nice steak. Nothing distinctly Canadian. But that was the same in Oklahoma. There was a little Guatemalan restaurant I loved, and some great pho places, and some to-die-for steak houses, but I didn't like anything representative of Oklahoma.

I don't know what Nanaimo bars are?

They're a dessert bar from BC.

My husband keeps trying to buy them for me at the grocery.

I think I would put one of those in my mouth.

Oh. I just remembered. Mr. Freeze. Canadian freezies are vastly superior to US freezies. Canadian chocolate syrup is, however, inferior to US chocolate syrup. And WHY can't I get broccoli and cheese soup here?!? Adding cheese to cream of broccoli soup does NOT make it broccoli and cheese soup.

One word: Quizno's. They make FANTASTIC broccoli and cheese soup!
