Scotiabank announces referral relationship with
India’s Kotak Mahindra Bank

Alliance to offer financial services to people emigrating from India to Canada and to Non-Resident Indo-Canadians seeking accounts in India

Scotiabank has reached an agreement with India’s Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited to provide financial services to people immigrating to Canada and to Indo-Canadians seeking accounts and investment services in India. This alliance will bring together the respective strengths of each bank to enable referrals for customers in Canada and India, subject to local banking regulations.

"We’re Canada’s most international bank and we’ve had a presence in India for the past 30 years which gives us a unique perspective on what international clients are looking for in financial planning" said Troy Wright, Scotiabank’s Executive Vice President of Retail Distribution, Canadian Banking. "Partnering with Kotak Mahindra Bank gives Scotiabank a platform to reach out to Indian residents immigrating to Canada and provides our customers in Canada with a referral to one of the leading financial institutions in India."

Through the alliance, select Kotak Mahindra Bank branches will offer Canada-bound Indian residents with access to the Scotiabank StartRight Program for Newcomers. The Program includes an international account opening process and assists with Canadian credit card applications, all prior to leaving India.

In Canada, select Scotiabank branches will help non-resident Indian customers seeking bank accounts in India by referring them to Kotak Mahindra Bank’s MyIndia Program - their non-resident Indian (NRI) and people of Indian Origin (POI) banking solution.

"We are delighted to partner with Scotiabank," said KVS Manian, President, Consumer Banking, Kotak Mahindra Bank. "The alliance brings together the strengths of both banks to collectively meet the diverse financial needs of the Indian community. We look forward to providing a comprehensive NRI Banking product suite to the Indian Diaspora in Canada through our MyIndia Program."

"We understand that moving around the world is an enormous undertaking, and we strive to offer some stability during this transition by helping people with the financial part of their move," said Winnie Leong, Scotiabank’s Vice President of Multicultural Banking. "This strategic alliance with Kotak Mahindra Bank expands our reach in India, and gives both banks an opportunity to provide relevant advice and services to customers planning a move to Canada."

The Scotiabank StartRight Program is available at any Scotiabank branch in Canada or by calling 1-866-800-5159 (from North America) or 000 800 100 7460 (from India). To better assist customers both in India and Canada, the Scotiabank StartRight website is available in a variety of languages, including Punjabi. Once in Canada, newcomers can also find the nearest branch with an advisor fluent in their language by using the branch locator tool at www.scotiabank.com/branchlocator.

Hi All,
I have planned another session this Sunday Oct 7th from 11am to 1 pm. This time it's bigger and better.

 • Understand how the hiring process works in Canada today.
 • Personality development to build your network and crush the competition. I'll also talk about some of the concerns and fears new Canadians have and overcoming them.
 • Get actionable tips and secrets on using LinkedIn to get visibility. You don’t want to miss this!!
 • Useful links, tools and hacks to turbo charge your job search.
 • The single biggest reason you don't get interview calls.
 • Being in charge of the interview rather than being controlled.
 • Top 2 resume mistakes that land your resume in recycle bin.
 • Q & A

Here's what some of the previous participants had to say:
Pure Professional guidance; how to present yourself in an interview, how to customize your resume, and even better how to change your mindset so you can focus on the right opportunity is what one can expect from Anil Keswani's " Landing Your Dream Job" session. The approach to providing real answers to real challenges is what stood out for me. Thank you Anil for a great session. --- Neeti Sharma

I have attended the “ Landing your dream job” seminar held by Anil and I was happy with the results. He is a good speaker and was very open with what happened to him when he migrated to Canada and almost each and every one present felt that he was relating exactly their experiences. He has identified some of the issues that we as new immigrants face on a day to day basis and he has given us many practical small things that we can do to resolve these issues. There were two very important things that I learnt: Be calm and work with a system. I have implemented these and I am feeling the change in myself. I am still in transition and I am confident that I will get the position that I want very soon. His tips on optimizing and using Linked in are very sound- I have tried it and they work. I am coming up more and more in Linked in searches. His suggestions for changes and modifications in resumes are very interesting as they are quite different from what other people recommend. I am trying them out and the initial review from a recruiting agency was quite positive. --- Parvesh V Merchant

There is only room for 12 people and seats get filled up first. Send me an email at anilkeswani007@yahoo.ca to get registered. Mark your calendars!!
WHEN: October 7, 2012
TIME: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Please arrive 10 - 15 mins early to settle down and avoid any delays.
