I was thinking about this the other day...

Any idea on how the files are distributed to case officers?

Randomly? Or perhaps by NOCs...

I would guess by NOCs as there are probably a few case officers specialized on certain NOCs... Especially for CEC people that tend to get calls, the officers must have some specialized knowledge to be able to interview people effectively.

I work in tech and a friend of mine is a CEO at a tech company in Ontario, he has offered me an offer letter at his firm, is it enough
to get those 50 points or do we have to hire a lawyer for an LMO?

No it is not enough. you will either need job offer with LMIA or job offer and 1 year work under work permit that is LMIA extempt.

Hello guys, as self-employed, I was requested to provide 'Approved Financial Statements'.

May I ask what does it mean? Does it mean audit report? Or does it mean financial statements approved by a third party?

Your help is much appreciated. :)

I'm very confused about work permits.

I've been told by an immigration lawyer that, once you are nominated, you can apply for an open work permit, but I cannot find anything to confirm this online anywhere.

All I can find is BOWP, which is for people already working in Canada.

Anyone know anything that can help?

Not an auditing report, just get a reputable accounting firm to do your balance sheets and sign off on them... Then submit that!

If you have auditing reports submit those as well.

I read this and did a bit of research and found out that if you have a nomination AND a job offer from the same province as your NoM then you can apply for a WP.

But as far as I know JUST having a NoM is not enough to get a WP, you need a job offer.

The benefit here is that an employer doesn't need to get a LMIA to hire you if you have a NoM.

Does the employer have to fill in all the forms? I have an email offering me the job. Will that do?

Short answer: YES! Don't worry about age...

If you drop below 400 due to age that's fine AT ANY STAGE... What can't happen is: you cannot drop below 400 because you scored lower on your IELTS when you retook, or, you've added an additional applicant and so have dropped below 400... In short, the only drop below 400 which is tolerated is age!
Thanks g126.
Continuing this discussion. I had another response from OINP. So I just wanted to know that in the response in the last para below in bold, does invitation to apply to OINP mean PT notification and APR application means eAPR of the Federal stage? Please explain. Much thanks!

Here is the reply:

Thank you for your inquiry.

A candidate who reports an age difference between the time they receive an invitation to apply (ITA) and the time they submit an application for permanent residence (APR) could lose points that were awarded to them for their age, which is one criterion used to establish their rank relative to other Express Entry candidates, and to determine their eligibility to receive an invitation to apply. Applications can be refused for this reason despite the applicant’s ability to meet regulatory requirements of the economic immigration program for which they have applied.

A temporary public policy will permit the exemption of candidates from application of section 11.2 of the IRPA only if the loss of eligibility or qualification has occurred due to aging of the applicant between the submission of an invitation by IRCC and the receipt of the resulting application by IRCC.

Accordingly this exemption will apply to those individuals whose ranking may change due to age from the time an invitation to apply to OINP was sent and receipt of the APR application.

I hope that this has been of some assistance to you.

Hello guys, I have a question that needs your thought.

As self-employed, I got requests of 'Business tax fillings for one year' and 'Personal income tax filling for one year'. However, previously when I set up my business in 2014 I was allowed to be waived from these in 2014 as the business was way small. But as it has been growing, my business revenue and personal income are both improving in 2015 and 2016. Yet now I still have not paid any taxes since I have been least savvy about tax fillings.

What should I submit now? Should I calculate and pay back the taxes, and get the fillings from the tax bureau?

Many thanks for your guidance.

I think you'll need an official job offer letter, you know, written on company letterhead along with your salary, benefits, etc...

Once you have that from them and your nomination you can do this yourself on the MyCIC page, just go to Apply for Visitor, Study and/or Work Permit and answer the questions... If you need any other documents from the employer the site will tell you.

Be aware that it's not the easiest site to navigate through so if you have an immigration lawyer or firm that you use, best to leave for them to do.

Yes, I understand that invitation from OINP is the PT and the APR is the federal process.

Explain in a LoE that you don't have business tax filings as your business is too small and is exempt. You should show proof that it's exempt from taxes by quoting the law that makes it exempt and showing how you've met the criteria to be exempt.
