OHIP for sponsored immigration applicants

I read too many misleading about this. So, I will set it straight:
For the sponsored immigration applications (no matter where the application is submitted.), if the applicant has been in Ontario, Canada for 3 months, then he/she is eligible for OHIP, which is confirmed by OHIP. The only argument here is the confirmation of the immigration application. OHIP says it should be a confirmation letter from CIC. But the CIC does not agree. (I got the CIC response.) And the most important is that the LAW does not require the confirmation letter, only the confirmation. And I think for the sponsored immigration applications, as long as the sponsorship is approved, then it is confirmed by CIC. However, the person I sponsored is not in Canada yet, so OHIP can not assess my case. So, I\'d like to see if someone does it. If someone has the same case and got refused by OHIP, I will provide legal assist for free.

My husband has been here for 7 months now.
As soon as I get the sponsorship approved, I'll apply for OHIP and let you know.
Cheers

You are confusing sponsorship approval and PR approval. The sponsorship approval doesn't have any impact on the APPLICANT other than that the SPONSOR has been found to be eligible and the PR application can now proceed to be reviewed and decided. Therefore sponsorship approval would have no impact on OHIP. The confirmation letter OHIP is looking for is the confirmation of PR for the APPLICANT.

Are we talking about outland or inland ?? if its inland than your considerd to be eligible for OHIP uppon recieving first stage approval (AIP) you just take the letter with you to their office with a couple of IDs that have your signiture and photo on them after that you wait three months.

True. Inland is different in that AIP does allow a person to apply for provincial medical insurance. I was assuming an outland application. Never assume!
