Hello all,

We applied for my spouse's PR application in Family Class as Outland (new delhi) and received Sponsor Approval about a month ago saying the file is moved to New Delhi visa office (also just completed medical). My spouse lives with me in Ontario but we applied outland because she needed to travel out of Canada due to family reasons.

Based on the following I post I understand that we might be able to apply for OHIP.

Since this post is from many years ago, I was wondering if anyone has applied for OHIP with Outland application while living in Ontario (on visitor visa) in the recent past or has any information about this process. Does the same process of apply -> reject -> OHIP review board still hold true or is there any change to this now?

Please advise and help, I really appreciate your time and help.

Thanks!

OHIP is only available for those who applied for inland PR sponsorship and gotten AIP stage and also available to those who have gotten OWP through inland sponsorship providing they submit an letter from employer that he/she is/will be employed full time for a minimum of 6 months.

Those staying in Ontario while on outland application are considered to be "visitors" only and thus not "officially" residing in Ontario. This is why OHIP is a not available for those who applied for PR through outland approach.

Hey @jn1234 , I am a Canadian PR living in Ontario and planning to sponsor my wife as Outland Application (India) who will be moving to Montreal (Quebec) on work permit from her company side. Can we do that or would have to apply for Inland sponsorship only as she'll be in Canada by time we send the application?

Also could you please advise on below what to fill in this option, I saw in a post -

"Recently for a few people who applied Outland living in Canada Family class in the document checklist had their applications returned for listing "PA living in Canada" on form imm1344, question #6. The ircc paperwork said they should have listed "living outside Canada" even though PA is living in Canada and indicated as such in the document checklist.

I checked the detailed instruction guide and there was no instruction to this effect for #6. Has anyone else run into this? Is ircc making new rules?

If you have to list PA as living outside Canada despite choosing outland living in Canada family class, what do you put for #7 on the document checklist? Also what do you put for current living address and living history? Do you use their Canadian address and include how long they've been living here? "

Hi GS20,

We are currently in the same situation. My husband (PA) is in Canada and we are looking to do outland whilst he is here.

Please what did you end up putting on your application

How did you fill IM1344 Q6, the checklist and the addresses? Your reply will be very much appreciated

My husband was an outland but he was approved and now in canada we needed a bunch of documents and him to be in the office with his landing papers we applied not even a month after landing but it can take a while to get it back.
