No,
When he scanned your PR card, it gets logged in the system, so no worries about the missing stamp.
I live in Montreal and they have the automatic boots in Montreal airport. It's been years since I do not get stamps on my passport anymore and yet CIC (CBSA) have me on their records.

So do not worry at all about the missing stamp "Entering" Canada.

What about leaving Canada, since there is no immigration?

Then you need to make sure you have a stamp when you enter a country you are travelling to. Understand this could turn into a headache if you are a Euro citizen and you don't get your passport stamped when you enter Euro zone, some other countries might not stamp your passport as well.

Better if you ask and make sure when you enter such countries to get your passport stamps... It's sometimes in these cases (when you have missing stamps in your passport at the Citizenship test) where CIC will start requiring more documents from you, CIT-0520, RQ, Travel records from other coutnries (such as UAE). Therefore always try and get your passport stamped when you travel abroad, will make it easier for CIC and especially for you.

Just another point, CBSA has record about you exiting Canada - so far - only by road when travelling to the US and this is only from June 2013. If you traveled to the US prior that, there is no record for it.

There is a plan to start recording your Air exits as well (to any destination) and it is currently being tested/implemented (coming in few months or next year I guess), people will start seeing exit reports all along with Entry reports when they will order their CBSA travel history.

This is what is usually available at a 1st request, and what CIC usually has access to when processing your application. Now that said, if there is an investigation, for serious issues, such as criminality, terrorism, (not sure about citizenship applications but I would imagine yes), I do believe CBSA can dig further and get access to your exit trips from airline manifests when available and a such. But this takes time and usually happens for serious cases.

It is understood that CIC goes more into issuing RQs to applicants as it seems to take less time (may be cost effective as well) to them, applicant will then have to prove he was really in country and prove he fulfill the citizenship requirements.

Therefore making sure you get your passport stamped when you enter another country, is your best way to have a relatively smooth straightforward citizenship application processing.

Thanks for your reply. Most of the time I travel to India and we have passport stamping at entry and exit from Indian airports.

very informative , thanks for the input

Sorry for the basic question, as I am just starting the journey - got COPR this month - but would like to gather all the necessary info about the final stop - the citizenship. Why would one need to have his/her passport stamped? I understand that in order to become a citizen I need to reside in Canada for a certain period, but why would I need the stamp when leaving Canada/entering another country? Wouldn't the stamp/log on the entry suffice to count residency in Canada?

Hi! I would like to ask if what is visitors record because I had a delayed fligth going to halifax when I entered the canada in montreal they dont give that kind of record or paper that shown as a visitors record also they did not stamped my passport but they do give a piece of blank white paper sheet that has a number 46 and it was made by handwritten do I havr to worry about it?thank you.

your passport must have been scanned and there is a record in the database. Stamps are monuments of the past.

Hi! Thank you for answering my question. I am carrying visitor's visa right now,but they did not stamped my passport.Yes, they just scanned it but I got an employer here the when my atty submitted my application for aipp the immigration looking for my visitors record but I dont have like that I only have a visitors visa then I dont know what I will show to them.tnx

you show them truth and they will bear with the amount of stamps they need. if there is a stamp missing, an officer may stamp his forehead for the balance.

Do I need to worry about it?then I search for any circumstances like that in google this one I read
"
  • The CBSA no longer stamps all passports at airports with Primary Inspection Kiosks.
  • If you need a stamp in your passport as a proof of entry into Canada you must request a stamp from a border services officer after completing a kiosk transaction.
  • If your passport is not stamped, you are only authorized to stay in Canada for up to 6 months from the day you initially entered Canada, or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.
  • If the border services officer authorizes a period of stay of some other duration, either more or less than 6 months, the officer may issue you a document and should stamp your passport indicating the date by which you must leave Canada.
