Hello,

My mother is the applicant and her application is in process since Feb 2020. She has not received any invitation for interview yet.

Last year she had to change her passport because it had a small smudge due to getting wet in her purse. After changing her passport the embassy did not return the old passport to her even though she asked for it. They said because of smudge they can not return it to her.

Now my concern is what will happen in the interview if they ask her for her old passport. She has color copy and scan of all pages of the old passport and she did submit entry/exit record of her travels. Is it going to cause a problem? Any one had similar experience? If yes, What did you do?

Thanks

Have her explain to the officer everything you said here, if she is asked to send documents or appear for the interview. If she has written correspondence of the Embassy saying they can't give her her old passport back, even better.

Thank you for the response.

I had my Oath Ceremony this morning and I am a CANADIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It only took me 35 years, 7 months, 2 weeks and 4 days!!! LOL!!

I became a Canadian with 25 other people from Winnipeg and area, from 7 different countries on International Women's Day.

Just a note to all, because I was panicked... my ceremony was scheduled for 9:45 and I waited for 30 minutes waiting in the "waiting room" and I thought something was wrong... I was really starting to get anxious. But, they are checking identifications one by one so it takes them some time to get to the oath.
