The processing time will start counting from the day they open your application to process (not sure if they are updated automatically about your restoration of status or if only when they receive your webform). I guess that you will become PR before receiving DM. When did you have your status restored?

If you call their call center, cant you check your file by the automatic system, just like we can check the PR application status without talking to an agent?

By the way im a december 14th applicant, just asked a question from a comment I saw. I thought it showed on my signature.

I tried calling this morning and that's what I mentioned in my previous comment. The work permit application check through the phone treats it like a standard open work permit. It says "if we received your application after November 24th, we have not started processing it". But this doesn't apply because even january PR applicants are receiving work permits. The thing is these agents don't know anything. They're the ones that told me I can send my OWP with PR because my restoration was already submitted.

They said IRCC will see I have restoration in process when they are looking at my OWP..

Still processing background check since January 17, 2019. I am not sure how long this background check would take. I am hoping we would start hearing back from them come May/June.

Yes, this is standard. All OWPs granted are for 2 years (or less if the applicant's passport expires sooner).

My passport will expire in August and I just got an OWP valid until 2021

Not sure! I’ve seen other people receiving it with an expire date longer than their passport. I think IRCC is avoiding people having to apply again after a few months and make them busy for no reason, since those people have the “right” to get the OWP. That’d be my guess

No I don't think that's true because on the work permit the passport number is stated and when you renew your passport the passport number changes
Unless you can extend the same passport you hold to keep the same passport number

I really don’t know! But someone told me that when I renew my passport I would only have to inform IRCC... I will call them tomorrow and post here their answer

Their answer is already posted: the expiry of open work permit is related to passport expiry
