Background Check started yesterday OCT 22nd applicant here.
And I am still waiting for the physical copy of my OWP.

Is there anybody else who didn't receive their physical copy ?
Wish we had some tracking id received from cic cuz every time I had to keep bugging my house owner to check for any mails.
My Owp was approved on Feb 12th.

Do you think that my partner and I should update his work history on his PR application? When we sent his application he was employed here in Calgary but since then his application for an OWP has been sent back as incomplete (after his previous work permit expired) so he is in restoration now and is no longer able to work. On the new OWP application we sent it stated his current employment situation.

Guys I Need help on how to cancel an online application i’ve already submitted.
I applied for visitor permit extension last month. My OWP was approved this month. Since I do not need the visitor extension, can I cancel it?

HI, that is what happened to me. i apply for visa extension just in case my open work permit were not received on time. luckily my owp were received before the expiring date of my visa. i just ask my refund online and i received the fund after two days. few weeks later IRCC agent call me to request payment and i told the lady that i don t want to continue with the visa extension application and the agent cancelled my application. in your case your owp has been approved already. for me there is no fear to call and cancelled the visa extension application you made or you can only ask online for a refund of the payment you did as i did too. and if later they give you a call just let them know you want to cancelled that application. hope my experience help

Just as an update, I checked today and my background check started! I’m an october 25 applicant.

My husband's background check has also started! October 25th applicant as well.

I know it has been asked before, but does anyone have a rough idea of how long this step takes to complete? Also, if this kind of the last big step before the sponsor approval and final decision are made?

For what I’ve been reading it could take 3-4 months.

And yes, usually this is the last step before sponsor approval and DM!

I just received the physical copy 4days ago and my owp was approved on jan.31. Yours will be there soon.

By the way, can we check if BGC started in ecas?

Also got our background check started on Feb. 17th, 2019! Congratulations to everyone who got updates on their applications and fingers crossed for the others who are waiting!

Does anyone know if the RCMP certificate and fingerprints are requested from everyone who has been living in Canada for 6 months or more? Or should we be concerned in any way?

And does anyone have experience with getting this done at the local police or a third party agency? I am wondering which is quicker for this process.

I am wondering if I'm gonna go through the BGC.. because my status in GCKEY shows it as "NOT APPLICABLE".. what does that mean? Anyone knows? Did you guys have the same status?

It says same thing on my GCkey. I think it will change to "in process" or something once they start BGC.

Got OWP approved today. I am 29th Oct applicant.
Haven't received any confirmation email but it says on my GCkey. Hope it doesn't take too long to receive actual paper in mail.

Regarding Back Ground Check, there isn't any update yet.

Ours came in the mail today. Approved February 12th, 2019.
