You need to update your residential address with CIC even if you have a representative, CIC wants to know any important changes that happens during the processing of your application, you can change the address on ECAS or using webform but it's easier and faster with ECAS
Thanks! That was helpful to know:)

Hello All,

Our OWP application was received on October 2nd,2018. So I called CIC this morning asking we have crossed 4 months deadline, They said they will only process OWP application if you get SA. So question to you people who got their OWP, did you aldready got your SA(Sponsership Approval) before getting work permits.

Thank you.

It's wired. I do not think they only process guys with SA.

I've not heard that one before. Isn't SA usually further down the line? I really would not like to think I'm going to be waiting much longer.

That is not what it says on the web, and we had not been told that by an agent. I would call again and ask for clarification and a quote from their guidelines that states that fact.

Cic agents a lot of times have given people false information. If you applied for OWP when you still have valid temporary status (worker, visitor, student) you will be receiving it within 4-5 months.
Whoever applies for owp when they are out of status then yes they will only get it after sa.

Has there been any clarification at all on why the processing times have gone up? It's a little disheartening as I thought I was getting close, but now may have to wait another month? :\

Not on CIc website. But my guess is because everyone thought they would end the owp pilot in January 31, 2019. So CIC received a large number of applications, they are short staffed.

I suppose that's plausible. A little unfair though on their part. Guess we'll see if that new waiting time applies to those who applied when it was still quoted 3-4 months.

I just called the CIC automated line, and they are reviewing my partner's OWP application. We applied on October 11, they have October 4 as the date they're using, and they say they're reviewing applications received up until October 5.

Fingers crossed for everybody!
