does anyone have an idea from when we send in the pics and passport copies how long it takes to get the visa (ballpark) ? dont want to quit jobs if its going to be like months LOL.

My friend who went through express entry had about 2 weeks from when he sent it to when he could land. But I believe you have a long time from when you receive your COPR and the deadline for when you have to land. Of course, every case is different so I would probably wait to give notice until you get the OK to come to Canada, just in case!

The landing date is usually exactly 1 year from the date you did your medical. If that date is too close to when you receive your PPR the officer will adjust it accordingly.

Congratz! Looks like Ottawa is speeding up process!

To floribec: I'm applying from HK in Qc. Still waiting... Not even in Background check yet... But I have received my CSQ not long ago

To Cookielicious: I will send in a copy by mail to your country's office directly since no one will respond you by email. So you can be sure that they know about it.

Thnx :)

Is there anyone elses VO Vienna, my fellow October applicants?

I don't think anyone can give you the correct answer to that. Ours took 10 days, some are taking longer. There was a post of someone with decision made from Nov 28th and they say they haven't received an email yet. You are probably best to wait until you have your COPR in your hands before you make any decisions. Heck it could get lost in the mail room or in transit either way. I know everyone is in a rush to be with their families, but better safe than sorry.
Lol yeah actually quit job today just because and they called 19 times by the time arrived home and got a 5 dollar raise if will stay until copr paper work comes hahaha so it worked out nicely

background check started at last!

My status didn't change online yet but the Sao Paulo visa office emailed us today to ask us to submit an updated criminal record check. I gather that is normal? We sent one in with the original application, but I suppose they need to confirm my husband didn't become a criminal between November and now ;)

i had a document request for a police certificate on January 19, and my background check has been in progress for about a month now. How long should it take to get a DM? How long did everyone have their Background Check in progress for before DM?

how long it takes is different for each visa office. you'll get a more accurate response in the thread specific to your visa office.

Strange, but possible. Did they ask for it specifically or there's a line that says "if not submitted?"

They were quite specific that they wanted us to send it again: "After reviewing your case the immigration officer kindly requests that you submit the following information/documentation". I would guess some time after they receive it (which they did already, since for Brazil emailing it as a PDF is an option) they will update the status on the website.
