Just new to the forums. May I ask what is an AOR and why everyone is so happy about it. Does it also there are those who do not get the AOR as well ?

Hello and welcome to the forum,

AOR stands for Acknowledgement of Receipt. The AOR acknowledges the date that CPC-M received the application and provides the sponsor’s UCI number (Unique Client Identifier). It is sent to the sponsor’s email address if provided on the application.

It all depends when you sent in your application on whether or not you've received AOR yet. Applicants up until Oct 14-16ish have gotten AOR.

Once you get the AOR email, CIC-M then starts processing your case for sponsor approval (SA).

Welcome to the October 2015 Spousal Outland Applications

My first question to you is : have you submitted your application already and when??? If not I would strongly recommend you surf the forum to find out all that's needed. As well as gathering all forms and documents required

The AOR pretty means: " Acknowledgement of Receipt ", yes everyone who has submitted their application to Immirgration Canada at some point will receive their AOR either by email or regular mail

People are excited because after months of waiting for a reply to their submitted application/package we finally get our notice from Immigration indicating our package has been received and basically we are approaching the next step of phrase one (1)

The next step is to receive our SA, which mean Sponorship Approval - that's the big one !!! , because once your approved as a sponsor your file will get transfer to the Visa office (VO) of your spouse and the final decision will be made by a immigration officer at that Visa office for your spouse to get their Permanent Residence (PR) to Canada.

The immigration process can be long and frustrating and it's very important to know the journey ahead.

If you are a October 2015 Outland Applicant ......., (regardless if your the sponsored person or the sponsor)

WOW, and thanks for quick reply. yes, actually I am going to marry in Colombia after the holidays like the middle of January. I am a Canadian citizen 57 and new to this spousal sponsorship procedure. I just have a few questions regarding the steps. I am gathering all the paperwork in preparation to the actual marriage like: birth certificate, passport, former divorce papers, photos, etc. She of course has to wait there for about 14 months ( wish there was a way so she can come and wait in Canada ) but I must be back for business. Must I just bring the necessary documents to get married as well as the CIC sponsor application for her to fill out and the bring it back with me and mail everything out to CIC from Canada, or must it be mailed out to CIC from Colombia? How about her medical ? must she have it done there and afix it with the CIC application or will she be asked for a medical later on by CIC ? What about all the other supporting documents like photos of us together and proof of our relationship, must all that be attached as well and sent as a package to CIC. Once I am back in Canada what is the best way to mail the package?

I see you have already created a thread to most of your questions pertaining to sponsorship/application that you have post to this thread.

Most likely you will get a quick reply from the forum, but to answer a few of your questions, yes start gathering up all require documents, you don't have to mail your package from Columbia, you can definetly bring her portion of the application with you to Columbia and have her complete it with you, it will be your choice to submit your completed package either from Columbia or Canada.

Visiting Canada - yes she can visit while your application is in process - see CIC website or threads in the forum pertaining to spouse visiting while application is in process - consider yourself lucky if she gets approved !!

medical - it's best to do it upfront and submit with completed application to CIC - see CIC website or threads in the forum pertaining to sponsored person medical - you will need to follow the correct guide for each country pertaining to medical - panel physicians only !!

Supporting documents - yes all must be submitted with your complete package to CIC - there are excellent threads on the forum pertaining to supporting documents and how to prepare your package.

Mailing the package - the best way to mail your package (if in Canada) is through Canada post express services that way you can track your package to CIC - keep your tracking slip so you will know when your package arrived and who signed for it - it will probably be Mahmood lol (I'm sure some of the other know what I mean lol - but that's not important, as long as its signed by CIC

The Forum is the best place to assists you with your immigration process to sponsor your spouse - your in the right place, but this thread your in is basically discussions, experiences, process and status of all October 2015 Outland applications who are now going through the process (we already submitted our applications )

so pretty much we come here to support each other and discuss our experiences .

Whichever month and year you submit your application I'm more than sure they will have a thread (similar to this one) set up so you to can discuss the process of your submitted application.

Again I encourage you to visit some of the other threads I'm sure you will get alot of your questions answers from more advanced members

I am happy for you and congrats on your upcoming marriage and hurry up in getting your package out ( it's a long process of waiting)

Any e-mails sent to you by CIC will end in “@cic.gc.ca” or “@international.gc.ca.” Please add these to your “safe senders”

We submitted the application October 2nd, was received by CIC on October 5th as per the tracking on the package.
Received AOR, I believe, November 26th and SA today, December 8th (exactly when I expected to!)
And now we're onwards to Ottawa!

So excited. The real wait begins but I'm hoping for 6 months or fewer!
