Question About UCI ???

My wife ( Sponsor ) called CIC and got her UCI Number .

When Beneficiary ( Husband) will get his UCI number , after stage 1 approval ???

Please clarify!

The Applicant UCI can be given by the VO at the second stage, but not always - and you don't really need it as you can log in into ecas with File number + applicant information or UCI + sponsor and both will give you the same information.
Good luck!

Just managed to log into ECAS for the first time. It says:

"We received your application to sponsor Ross Thomson Kilgour on October 24, 2012.

We started processing your application on November 16, 2012.

We sent you a letter on November 16, 2012 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us."

That sounds promising! Perhaps there's a stage 1 approval letter in the post to us? Anyone had a similar experience, or can anyone advise how long it took a letter from CIC to reach the UK?

congrats! that's probably a letter of approval indeed, if they have not asked you for any additional document it's probably an approval! Welcome to London VO and stage 2... Have you checked your email and spam folder? because even if it says " a letter" it can also be an email and the wording would be the same... so worth checking just in case ( if you get an email, it will still say " a letter has been sent" but you won't receive anything else than the email).
From the UK to Canada it takes around 10 days, so I would assume the other way round is about the same... (and to confirm - not having an option C is not a problem for sponsorship approval as long as you have included other documents)

My name is spelt wrong on the approval letter. What should I do?

You should contact CIC and ask them to change it - try login through ecas and contact the VO through a "case specific enquiry" as it's important to get it corrected.

Good luck all!

If your name isn't spelt incorrectly in eCas, or other parts of your application it's just a simple typing mistake and not important.....Don't waist their time with little things....at this stage it's not an issue, and there is no where in your landing documentation that requests your sponsorship approval letter.

Approval letter came today. Oddly it was addressed from ottawa, so maybe they processed us there for stage 1. Who knows. ecas seems up to date and also says "medicals received".

where were you guys' stage 1 letters addressed from?

OMG! Havent rcvd any email but i tried to open our ecas and it was a success! (without me knowing I can open it, havent rcvd approval yet). What does it mean???

Sure enough Sweden, our stage 1 approval arrived in the post yesterday, 10 days after the AOR!

Seems they sent it the same day we got the AOR, so a straightforward 1 day processing. On to London for stage 2! Fingers crossed we'll be approved by between Feb and Apr I guess.

Strange that they emailed us the AOR and then posted a letter the same day. I wonder why they don't just stick to one process? Perhaps because they also posted us back my wife's tax documents.

Hi Katie, what did you use as your identification type? I haven't had any correspondence at all from them, so tried my payment receipt number but it says they are unable to identify me using the information provided. I think your application was received just a couple of days before ours so I was hoping we might also be able to log in now. Also, do you put in details of the person being sponsored, or the sponsor? I tried both.

Congratulations to everyone who has recently received their approval!

I used the UCI of my sponsor, His surname, birthdate and birth place. Try it today, they update it every tuesdays.

Thanks Katie, I did try it this morning but I'll have a go this evening. I don't have a UCI yet unfortunately. I just need to be a bit more patient I guess!
