I'm 99% sure Canada Post isn't considered a courier.

That's for FedEx, UPS, DHL, Purolator, those types of companies that don't deliver to PO Boxes.

I believe their priorty post is considered courier service since you can have overnight delivery, track and get signature. :)

You can pay for all those, but CP will still deliver to a PO Box even with priority, you just won't get a signature. I remember reading a post on this forum about someone asking about that a little while ago.

On the other hand, FedEx and all that will flat out refuse to deliver to the box, hence the different address!

I really doubt you'd run into any problems if you mailed a package through Canada Post to the courier address though, either way!

I sent both CIC app and MICC app with Canada Post 2 day service, and got a signature for both!

Getting signature is waste of your money! I did the same thing because the Canada Post rep told me it's better this way! But stupid me didn't realize the address is a PO box so no one is going to be there to sign the item when CP delivers it! I got the delivery email from CP saying N/A for signature :-X

Thank you for the replies! I think since it says delivered I will just hope that it is there!!

ahh! After I asked that question I just got an email from CIC that says they have recieved my application. Good news YAY.

Hello longdistanceloves! I have a quick question. How did you contact CIC to know if they have received your application? Or did they email you themselves that they had received it.

Many thanks :-)

Ohhhh awesome I sent mine the day after you, so hopefully I'll get my email soon :D

They emailed me themselves. I did not contact them first. Once you have sent your application in they are supposed to either email or mail you a letter cconfirming they have received your application. They received my application on October 18th and emailed me to say they received it on November 2nd. Just to give you an idea of my timeline.

You will hear something soon! I am sure of it!! He processing times are only 35 days right now. So exciting. We will allhear soon!

Ahan. I'm getting a bit worried now as they should have received my application by the 12 of October and I still haven't heard anything from them yet. :(

If you are expecting it my email, make sure to check your junk folder. Mine wwent straight to junk mail yesterday and I didn't notice it until this morning! And if it is being mailed, I'm sure that takes longer. It will come, I am sure of it!

I have another question. Did anyone use the sponsor as the principal applicants representative? (Did you use yourself as your spouse's representatice?) I want to know what would be the prod of doing so because there is still a chance to add myself as my husband representative. I know if I were his representative I would receive all communications instead of him, but what else?

I am not positive on this but had you added the sponsor as a representative then you are correct you would receive all communications with CIC directly. If you have the time and your Husband is happy for you to do so, it is not a bad idea, in fact I would go so far as to say it is a very good idea. If your case drags on or if at any time you become inquisitive about your file and want to order your case notes then I believe you will be able to do it without having to mess about with consent forms from your husband. I know it is a small detail but it can work out easier. 1 slight downside I assume (once again, this is a guess) that when they finally issue COPR then it will be mailed to yourself and you will have to forward on to your husband if you applied outland, obviously if you applied inland it makes no difference.

For what it's worth had I known then what I know now, I would have added my wife as the representative, at the time it never made much sense to me so just put N/A on the forms. Hindsight is a wonderful thing eh? :D

Good luck
