Hi all,
I have my test on May 14th and needed some advice.

I have this one passport stamp from Mexico where the date is in Spanish. I am wondering if I should get it translated for sure or instead, bring the original boarding pass to prove my travels.

Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

Sharing my test/interview experience... my advise:

In preparation for the test: study (read) and try to understand each chapter of Discover Canada (at least) twice SLOWLY and listen to the MP3 (if you are an auditory learner). If you are a kinesthetic or tactile and visual learner, you should do some practice tests, however, nothing beats the book. You should read the book because you really want to know about 'your new country' and not simply to pass the test. In doing so, studying will be more meaningful and the experience will make it easier to adsorb the material.

The interview: you should assume that the agent doing the interview is the actual processing agent, so they know everything about you. Their intent is to confirm your identity (original docs), check your 'story' (work etc.), your language skills, to raise any concerns they might have etc. If you do not have enough buffer days, you should assume that the scrutiny will be greater. So, more than enough buffer days may save you some headaches. My interviewer did not even look at any other documents, e.g. COPR, diplomas, colored copies of passport pages (since my travels was somewhat extensive); kids' documents etc. However, the agent commended me for being well prepared. Overall, great interview experience. On the hand, I observed that 2 of the other interviewers were very thorough and strict (depending on the case and the applicants). Be prepared!

P.S. For those with spouses, make sure the other party study the book and is well prepared. Unbeknownst to me, my wife wanted to beat my test score. Too bad... I beat her. :)

Couldn't agree more... Thanks for sharing. :)

Always be on the safe side, translate and bring everything you have

Decision made as of today!!! After almost 4 months.. I’m so excited there’s some movement I’m practically dancing on my desk at work. Lol

Does anybody know what the role of the interviewer at test day is? Is he/she the citizenship officer or merely a person who gathers documents and info? I wonder why to some people they say you'll get oath letter in few weeks but he told me he can't decide right away. Please advise.

Hi, is there anyone who has applied from Brampton and got Test invite yet ? From the spreadsheet looks like no one has got test invite so far. i have applied from Brampton and have been IP since Jan 12.

He/she is not just a person who gathers/collects document, they have the authority to make a decision on your file.

There are many reasons for not giving an Oath date right away in the interview - for many offices this is the norm, nothing to worry about here.

At the minimum they make a decision on the residence checks

This, plus he/she double check everything before Decision make and ask questions (from you) if necessary. This agent has the authority to make DM or immediately assist the person doing DM.

I got FP request in Jan. They rec'd first week in Feb. Didn't get Test Invite until April 25 for May 30th. Hopefully you get the invite soon, but possibly you might have to wait a month or 2.
Have you got test invite letter? Is it Mississauga or Scarborough visa office?
