Hi all, I am in a fix and need some help. Me and my husband both are Indian citizens. Our daughter is a Canadian citizen. Me and my daughter are traveling to India early next month. She has a visitor visa valid for 6 months. I want to apply for her oci card as her return date is after the visa expires. So my questions
1. Should I apply from here, Toronto and have my husband send over the oci card whenever he receives it here? Problem - how long will they keep my Indian passport, her Canadian passport and my PR card as I would need this for my travel nect month
2. I can apply for her oci card from India - mumbai. Problem- would they need my husband's documents in original for submission. As he is not travelling with us.

They will keep Original for around 3 weeks (In TORONTO) , Also check if you can mail OCI card (I know Indian passport can not sent via mail)

Hi Anamika,
I applied for my both children last year and another one in process. I never submitted any original doc's. I submitted Notarized both passports, landing papers, addressed ID and marriage certificate. Submitted at Edmonton BLS for Vancouver mission

Question guys, I just applied for OCI, but in 3 weeks I am going to India on a tourist visa, which is only good for 6 months.
Am I allowed to stay for more than 6 months if my brother could mail the OCI to me in india, when the process is complete?

Hi,
I believe you can mail them OCI card , But Not sure any stamp will be printed on OCI card , If they do , your Canada Exit willnot be there , could be problem in future.

Ans: Yes and No! Yes part: When you depart Canada to India, you will have to show OCI to the airlines to board the plane. No part: On the way back, you don't have to present your OCI

How long did it take you to get OCI? I applied for OCI at Toronto, got an acknowledgement on the 6th Jun '17. I am not in a hurry to get OCI, but want to be home when it arrives. I have short trip to US on the 11th Aug...

Hi, I am a Canadian citizen of indian origin. I received my OCI after I became a Canadian citizen. My wife is Chinese, and she is currently on a Permanent Resident Status in Canada. I did apply OCI for her and she got the OCI based on my status.

Now she is applying for Canadian Citizenship. There is one question (6F) in the application which asks the following:

" Do you have permanent resident status or the equivalent in any country other than Canada? If Yes, list the country(ies) and provide the dates you acquired this status"

So, do we need to list her OCI here? We are bit confused whether the OCI can be treated as permanent resident status or a merely lifelong visa. Anyone in this kind of situation or can advise on this.. please respond.. Thanks

I can see it on the BLS website, but not on the OCI website yet. Is it normal?

Can kindly anyone tell me what exactly OCI card,is dual citizenship or only visa for India lifetime.
I did check few websites but don't get it if anyone of you can explain little bit its big help for me.thanks a lot in advance
