Today we have finally received my spouse's Indian passport (Cancelled) back along with Surrender Certificate.

Now, awaiting for OCI process which still shows as UNDER-PROCESS status for our family.

Keep you posted. Good luck!

On 6th April I went to BLS calgary and they did not take my application. they said my wife cannot apply for OCI as she is born n brough up in Canada. I call BLS call Centre they said my wife can apply for OCI as she is dependent on me. Need help can anyone get me Indian consulate number so i can talk to them directly. The number on the website goes directly to recoding, cannot talk to anyone there.
Just been tired talking to BLS call center every time they give me different answers.

Can foreign nationals, who are not otherwise eligible for OCI, get OCI if they are married to persons who are eligible for OCI?
The spouse of foreign origin of a citizen of India or spouse of foreign origin of an Overseas Citizen of India cardholder registered under section 7A and whose marriage has been registered and subsisted for a continuous period of not less than two years immediately preceding the presentation of the application.

Try calling Ottawa embassy or Toronto consulate if Vancouver number is not reachable. All over Canada it must be the same rules for indian OCI

At BLS, sometimes we endup with half knowledge staff who I guess are newly appointed or have with little experience. I too have observed such BLS staff at Brampton and had couple of more trips due to this. Best source would be to ask their experienced staff.

Here is the link you may check for your query, should imply to all over in the world and hope this helps:

Good Luck!

you can email the Indian consulate and get the approval from them. They are pretty fast in replying back to emails. just make sure you write everything that you anticipate that BLS will reject the application for and get approval from the consulate for all of them - that way, BLS cant say anything.

Is the spouse name on my passport & my wife's passport must?? if not, what are the options if any of you had similar issues.

Thanks

Not a must but will be helpful incase of any name change required.

I have got Acknowledgement from BLS toronto for my son and We have got our originals back on March 22nd.

How much time it will take to get the OCI card to print?
We have booked flight tickets for May11th.

If we don't get the OCI can I still apply Visa for my Son and go?

Please advice.

I am in the same boat as you are..
Your acknowledgement date from Toronto consulate matters not BLS. They have a slight variance.
Wait till 2 weeks (including weekends) before your flight.. if you still haven't got your passport request apply visa.

If i were you i would keep everything for visa ready before 2 weeks and apply ASAP when necessary. If you put a letter for your visa with flight tickets and you were waiting for your OCI , they might consider a faster process.

Good luck. .keep us all udpated..

P.S i got acknowledged from HCI ottawa 31 march and booked tickets 27 may to india.

Only after the dates are updated you will have to submit your passport.
You will have to print the page with all 3 dates on them and submit the passport.
