Those are by the book. Would like to hear true account of events. Tried to look through a few pages on here but couldn’t find.

Given that visas are suspended at this time the OCI applications have increased. There has been no announcement about them increasing manpower to process the high OCI applications or anything like that. So realistically the OCI processing times will increase than what they have mentioned.

What is this “date of acknowledgement”? My parents application says “processing at consulate” on the BLS website.

Read all previous messages. Why is it that for those who applied at Vancouver, the OCI website shows "under process" within a few days of application, and for those who applied at Toronto/Brampton it shows "no record found" until a couple of weeks after? Does it mean Vancouver is faster than GTA?

Yes. Vancouver --faster--> Toronto --faster--> Ottawa

It would also depend on how many people apply at those consulates. Toronto consulate covers the most populated areas in the entire country.

Although that doesn't explain why Ottawa is the slowest of them all.

Hey, I hope someone can guide me from here. So I recently got my citizenship of Canada on sept 9th and have already got my Canadian passport as well. With Indian Visa's suspension, can I travel on my Indian passport( within 3 months grace period) and apply for surrender certificate in India and later get exit visa FRRO?

Welcome to the club. Yes, you can do this based on Bureau of Immigration guidelines. But I haven't heard from any first hand source who has done it.
