I need some insight on the OCI process.

I have already got the Canadian passport, Indian passport surrender certificate, filled the OCI application online and have booked the BLS appointment for the OCI application submission for next week.
I am travelling to India on OCT14

Do I need to give them my original documents (Indian/Canadian passport) when I visit BLS center for OCI appointment or would they accept the copies ( or would they just look at original, verify and return it real-time). I am just worried what if they lose/misplace it if they plan to keep it with file.

What is the estimated timelines to get the OCI, any idea if it would arrive by OCT or is it just better to get e-visa.

ofcourse it would differ if that is not the case

Applied walk-in on July 25th at Brampton and today is the 8th business day. It still says 'no records found' on the OCI site. Hoping for update later today. If not probably mid week next week. I have seen recent updates here where two of applicants status was updated on the OCI site exactly at 8 business days of submission at BLS. Fingers crossed.
