I have submitted my OCI in BLS-Brampton on 12th March, that lady who processed my application took my original surrender certificate. She mentioned it will be returned after 15 days.

same happened for me at Toronto Office,
Not received original surrender certificate after a month, My submission date is Feb 18, 2023

For in-person, you just need to sign on the photocopies. BLS didnt say anything about dates or writings about attestation.

Mine is Feb 16 Acknowledgement postal application as well. Still waiting

All applications got updated as processed so I am guessing 1 month exactly from the date of acknowledgement

Anyone who has questions about BLS keeping originals during OCI applications, raise a query with CGI Toronto using sampark and show the staff printout of the response. CGI Toronto may take few days to respond to your query.

Went to BLS Toronto today. Even with appointment you might have to wait for an hour, before you’re called to the counter. They took my original cancelled Indian passport and said it’ll be returned after 15 days or so. Don’t know the reason, maybe just to take additional courier fee. Also, they are selling you passport cover without asking. Be careful of this scam if you’re visiting the Toronto centre. In the hindsight, I feel I should’ve gone to Brampton

Went to BLS Brampton today, there was a long line for walkins. I had a appointment and was in and out in about 7 minutes. The lady who I was assigned to did take the surrender cert which was expected. Other than that it was a breeze. The security guard stationed there does have a thankless job, as he is only trying to enforce the rules for which he was hired for..I would advise to go to Brampton instead of Toronto, as my spouse had gone to toronto and we are now stuck with some useless passport covers which they sold there as free and charged anyways..

No, cannot be done together.

One person can do the job - like I said in my previous post, you’d need signatures of your spouse on the self-declaration, forms, and self-attested copies.

Appointment should be booked under Passport

Go to the notary who can provide such an affidavit they will create the draft for you and notarize it
