I applied OCI today hoping to receieve before Jan 1st week. I am traveling to India on Jan 10th. If I don't receieve my OCI, can I apply for visa?

Hello Everyone,

My postal oci application was returned by BLS Brampton due to following reason. can any one help me to understand what exactly they are looking for. I had already mentioned my spouse name as per her current passport on my application form.
"spouse's name should be as per spouse's current passport, mentioned on the application form."

BLS returned mine, but I would suggest to upload and carry the physical copy. You just need to type your job profile yourself so it's not a big deal.

I've been out of work for a while. That's the issue. idk what to choose in the occupation field in the online form and what to write in the letter.

Hi, I had this issue for my parents name, I had updated as per their passport and it was returned saying it should be as per my passport. Their spelling was different on their passport and mine. I resent with their names as per my passport

BLS still shows "Processing at Consulate General". Do you know how many days it takes from Document received to actually receiving the package?

Thats right.
Passport Number is of your Canadian Passport. And the File ref is the Application number (CANXXXXX)

Yes, thats normal.
Please check the status in the OCI website. 2 weeks after the BLS - Processing at Consulate status, you will see an acknowledgment. And then 3-4 weeks from there for the processing complete status. (This is almost the case for Brampton Postal apps)

For Brampton office, this timeline should suffice.

Did you call the helpdesk. They may have some extra info. Pls give it a try.

It would be tight due to the holidays so I would recommend applying for an entry VISA asap.

With the current processing times, it is normal. Check your status using this link https://ociservices.gov.in/statusEnqury. This gives the date of acknowledgement.

hi, did u get OCI card ?
My flight is November 11 , for my file Date of acknowledgement is September 9, Since then no update. Getting anxious now

You can see my timeline in my signature. Keep checking your status on OCIservices, once it shows processed, it might take another week or two to receive.
The truth is you're really neck to neck, considering your your departure 11th November, if you get it before that, you must be very lucky.
