Hello,
I had my Citizenship Oath last week, and now preparing the documents for surrendering of Indian passport. Can someone please share their experience of wait time at Brampton office if I want to go as a walk-in candidate, or am I better off using the courier service. We are a family of 4, so that's an additional $240 I believe (both side courier).
Thanks for your answers. Cheers!

If you can do a walk-in for the surrender certificate (SC), I would highly recommend it. I did a postal and I am yet to receive it while nearing the 1 month mark. If you do not have any urgency to apply for an OCI, then do a postal for the SC.

Date of Walk-in Application at Brampton: 27-Aug (Family of two)
Date of Acknowledgement: 5-Oct
Status as of Oct-19: Processing at Consulate General
Planned travel date: 12-Nov (to attend brother's wedding)

It took 5.5 weeks from the date of submission to date of acknowledgement. Is this normal? I see others reporting 2 to 4 weeks for this change.
I was checking status updates only on the BLS site and missed to check it on https://ociservices.gov.in/statusEnqury. So didn't realize this delay until today.

When I applied, I thought there was enough time (2.5 months) before my travel date. But with only three weeks left to go, I am starting to worry. I see few posts about pick-up vs Purolator. I am going to look into paying for Purolator delivery if that's going to speed up the last steps.

Usually, it takes 3 weeks from the date of acknowledgement so expect your OCI to be processed by end of October and then another week to get in hand. I would suggest to pick it up from BLS.

Hi guys if status on OCI website says Received at Toronto on 17 Oct , does it mean it's been received on that day at Indian Consulate in Toronto or received at BLS Centre
That means it is at Consulate in Toronto where stamping on OCI would happen and in a couple of days it will reach BLS.

That's what I thought. But Jack-Can's response earlier in the thread suggested otherwise
Yes, U need a Canadian passport to apply for OCI ( need to attach a photocopy of the first page of CAD passport as per the document checklist ) , but you don't need to submit an actual CAD passport to submit your OCI application

Hi

Can you skip uploading and attaching EMPLOYMENT LETTER ? or it necessary ?

Thanks
BLS returned mine, but I would suggest to upload and carry the physical copy. You just need to type your job profile yourself so it's not a big deal.
