VVarma - Thanks much for the reply. I thought I was replying to a post from Pritesh and my bad that I made assumptions. Thanks again for your post details - much appreciated. I am applying for a new OCI in person at BLS Calgary (Vancouver jurisdiction). Did the online application part and have an appointment for next week. I gather from your post that you were able to pay the CGI fees using a debit card. There is confusion on that side as there is mention of Demand draft for CGI fees even under the in-person section on the BLS website.

Appointment is the best. they accept Debit or Cash ONLY. I guess you saw DD under postal? https://www.blsindia-canada.com/vancouver-jurisdiction/ocihome.php

Yes you need 1 photo 2 inch x 2 inch(51 mm x 51 mm)

When you went for the walk-in; did they take your Canadian passport or did they just check it and give it back to you?

Purolator just delivered our Surrender certificates and cancelled Indian passports.

Now on to OCI...

If you don't have Canadian Passport then you have to provide an explanation for not having Candian PP. BLS staff may not accept application but you have to stay firm and force them to check with other staff at BLS. they will accept it without Canadian PP, just be firm, Best of luck

I did submit my surrender certificate without Canadian Passport. I had my Certificate with me.

for OCI, does "Place of Birth" needs to match with Canadian passport or Cancelled Indian passport?

In my Indian passport its "Jabalpur MP" but in my Canadain passport its "Jabalpur IND". any advise?

Can someone help with whats the OCI process for kids born in US. We have applied for Canadian citizenship as well for our child. As US allows dual citizenship - we plan on keeping both the passports for our child.

Shall we go ahead and apply OCI using child's American passport or do we need to wait for the Canadian passport for the child and then apply the OCI. Not sure whats the process here I am sure a lot of forum members have had similar circumstances...any inputs or pros and cons are welcome.
