I see someone on facebook with acknowledgement date 23 july got approved yesterday for hci ottawa . Hope for the best and keep us posted . I have 22 august as acknowledgment date . And travelling in 3 weeks , very less hope i may have to cancel expensive tickets

I saw someone with 23 July acknowledgment date got his oci status change to processed yesterday in one facebook group for ottawa

Is 60 days a good enough for OCI timeline? I have my oath on Oct 11 and plans to go to India in November. I am consider rescheduling my tickets to December. Is this a plausible timeline -

1. Oath on Oct 11
2. Citizenship certificate by Oct 13
3. Canadian passport by Oct 17
4. Passport surrender and OCI application on Oct 18

Will I receive my OCI by Dec 15 if I apply on Oct 18?

have also applied from Montreal for OCI on 9th august; acknowledgement date 16th Aug; showing under process. They seem pretty slow for Ottawa. Please keep me posted if you get any update on your side.

Hi, any one please suggest
I submitted my application for Surrender certificate for Vancouver office but I realized I did not sign the photocopies and BLS employee did nit ask me either to sign. Please advise if self attesting is mandatory ??

I see a "wrong captcha entered" error whenever I am querying status since yesterday. Anyone else faced this?

Is it really possible to surrender the passport and apply for OCI simultaneously?
My Indian passport is at the HCI under process for cancellation.
I thought we needed the surrender certificate to apply for oci, maybe this is wrong.

What's the office you applying to? If Ottawa they take the maximum available processing time i.e. 12 weeks. So if you take Oct 18 as start date you should have OCI tentatively by mid or end of Jan. Christmas and all other holidays may add extra processing days too.

You cannot apply for surrender and OCI at the same time
Surrender first (4 weeks)
OCI (6-8 weeks)
Some might get it earlier others might take longer than the above timelines
But you need to factor in the present scenario all this “might” take a bit more wrt processing

Hi Abas,

Please advise if self attesting is mandatory ?? Will consulate general office Vancouver still my surrender application being photocopies not self attested?
