I complained about the inconsistancy many times, but got reply today Morning from Ottawa, asking to use something else to raise concerns, i did there past 2 months. i have level 3 greinace open for the inconsistancy at different BLS . It should be equal level of services at all branches. even in the email how did the 1. Missing.

Are you complaining about why the Vancouver jursdiction gets to do it together or are you complaining why the toronto jurisdiction doesn't allow it now after allowing that for years?

Cause if its the former, then I being from Vancouver can tell you that you are being selfish. Just because the east has a different process doesn't mean the western offices need to follow the same.

If later then you for sure can ask them why they changed the process? I don't think they need to give you an answer back as you are no longer an Indian citizen so they aren't really answerable to you anymore. One could argue that they are somewhat answerable to you as you are paying for the service but that's a different discussion.

Not trying to be rude and sorry if it came out that way but reading your original post, it seems to me that you wanted the Vancouver process to be deliberately changed to match the eastern process.

It seems the change.org petition which was started against BLS had some impact. They again opened up more appointments at Brampton office for April & May. Earlier they were showing that there are no appointments available & were trying to sell them. Hope they stopped other malpractices as well

I am in the process of surrendering my Indian passport and had some questions regarding the process

1) it says in the checklist I have to upload the photo as well, I only see the passport seva form download and the option to paste the photo
2) I believe I can go to the Purolator store and mail the application as well instead of applying through bls website , is the cost the same?

1) Upload is only for OCI. Just 1 photo for SC. No need to paste it, just keep it in a separate envelope.
2) I enquired once, and the quoted cost at Purolator store (Vancouver Downtown) was $80+ almost 3 times of BLS.

As if we dont have enough problems dealing with BLS.... Ya lets mess up one Jurisdiction which is favorable to us .

Visited BLS Brampton this morning to submit our OCI applications.. Had all the necessary documents and it was a breeze. BLS tries to sell you their courier packages for delivery, if you have time to pick, then you can opt out.

I luckily got an appointment for this morning, could submit all 3 applications together (1 person can submit all from the family). I have 3 appointments for next Saturday 16th April (11:00, 11:20 and 11:40) that I had initially booked. Please reach out if you need one and we can coordinate to cancel.

Quick question about the OCI process -

1. Do I need to submit birth certificate from India? I am a recent Canadian Citizen with Indian origin. I surrendered my Indian PP.
2. Did you attach original copies of surrender certificate and cancelled Indian PP?

Had good experience with BLS Brampton. There was a huge line of walk-ins but I had appointment so they just let me in straight. The service was prompt and courteous. I gave them all the documents and politely mentioned I do not want any optional service. They only charged me $8.10 per application for BLS Service fee on top of OCI draft .

Some observations:
- pickup timings are now Mon-Fri 3pm-4:30pm (Two months back it was Mon-Sat 3pm to 4:45pm)

- They are not looking at any originals. Make sure to attest each and every photocopy with "This is a true copy of the original" - sign and date

- The lines up for pickup are sometimes huge and only first 20-25 people may manage get-in. The guards continuously go at the back of queue and tell people that the gates will close at 4:30pm (as their computers shutdown at 5pm) and indirectly tell people not to wait and fight with them at 4:30pm.

- If you are clicking photo yourself, use proper camera rather than mobile. A 10 year old, 5mega-pixel camera will shoot a better passport photo than a AI-powered latest mobile phone (unless you know how to fiddle with complicated photo settings)

- If you don't want purolator drop-off, explicitly MENTION it or else they seem to add it by default as they don't want half of Canada standing in pickup line.

- Book early morning appointments, If there is any problem,they let you re-fill the form and come back to BLS centre same day again for re-submission before 1 pm

- I saw people complaining BLS charged them $5 for a single printout. Well, BLS is a business, they provided you a service and have charged for it. If you follow checklist and instructions carefully, you will not land in that situation.
