Hi! Regarding the surrender of indian voter id and self-declaration - I do not ever recall registering (I moved to Canada in 2011). I also did a search by name on the election commission site and could not find any details (I was able to find my father's). Is it OK for me to just sign the self-declaration and submit the OCI application or do I risk any thing without formally verifying?

Thanks!
I believe that should be fine. I did the whole process of surrendering my Indian Voder ID. But, my wife's case was similar to yours. So with her we did not take any action and just submitted the declaration. We received our OCI cards today well within the timelines and without any issues. Even for the ones who have registered Voter IDs, I really have my doubts whether proper checks are being done to make sure that their Voter IDs are surrender before issuing the OCI.

My journey of becoming a Canadian Citizen and obtaining OCI Card ends today. Must admit that all the processes in the past 5 years (applying for WP, WP extension, applying for PR, applying for Canadian Citizenship, Surrendering the Indian Citizenship and obtaining the OCI Card) were pretty smooth with the only real glitch being the long gap of 1.5 months between getting my LPP cleared to the scheduling of oath.

My OCI Timelines are as below:

Applied: Walkin at BLS Mississauga on 26th Feb 2025
Acknowledgement: 6th March
Approval and Printing: At Delhi on 27th March
Dispatch to Toronto: 28th March
Received at home: 8th April 2025 delivered by Purolator.

My sincere thanks to all those who helped me with my queries in the various forums over here over the years. This forum has been extremely helpful.

I submitted my child's application to BLS on 3/31. Status inquiry on the OCI gov site still says 'No Records Found'.
Does anyone know after how much time does the status gets reflected on the OCI site?

Could someone please confirm that we need to have 2 demand drafts for each application -
1. one for "The Consulate General of India" - Toronto in the amount of $376
2. The other addressed to "BLS International Services Canada Inc." in the amount of $1.70
This is for a mail-in application if that matters.
