Right now i can only tell that :
Background check is in progress,
File is in Ottawa with CPP unit.
Any thoughts on this. I appreciate any help as it will be 16 months on coming Thursday (Mar 09, 2017).

This new look doesn't mean anything different. They are just trying to add more description there so that people stop calling the call center to get status update. ECAS should be a more reliable place to check the status of your application, assuming they have not added a new feature to have MyCIC page show the updates quicker than ECAS. Either way, adding additional description i.e., making it more user friendly doesn't really provide additional information about the case specific progress.

How long from here i don't know but if everything checks out he should be done within this month assuming that status has been like that for the last month or so.. Quite a few December applicants have cleared PPR he is a November Applicant so his should clear up soon. With regards to the update at least you know what is going on with your file if not in detail but a better overview i know its tuff and annoying when you have no access or info about your file whatsoever
