Finally some good news. Called IRCC today and they said that the Ottawa case processing Center is going to start issuing PPR letters June 3 2020 on wards. My application was approved last week but a physical copy could not be generated for PPR since the office is closed. According to the agent this letter will be used directly at the border for landing after the travel ban is lifted.

My application details:

Category- FSW-Outland (Citizenship- India, Residence- USA)
AOR- 9th November 2019
Med Passed- 9th December 2019
One ghost update on 2nd April 2020 (Security and Criminality was paased)
Final Decision- 11th May 2020 (Approved)
PPR- Pending Due to Covid-19 office closure in Ottawa.

I hope we all will get the good news in our email soon.
All the best everyone.
Thanks for the information! You mean the people can use ppr to land?

I called IRCC and got the details over the phone from the agent. Sorry for the confusion, you still need to send your passport for a VISA if you come from a country that needs one. So in my case the letter will be sent with instructions to send passport for VISA stamping at the Ottawa office. The letter is the standard letter that one gets on their email along with passport request. That letter also has to be physically generated by the VISA office for their records which they can not do right now since the office is closed. I hope this was clear. I had sent a webform 10 days back on which it said all the stages are valid. When I called today I got more details like in the GCMS notes as to whether there was a final review and whether the application is approved.

This is such a good news in this COVID situation, only hearing bad news from past couple of months. Thanks for sharing. Hope there will be some similar update for Sydney, Nova Scotia office as well.

Thanks for sharing this information! It offers hope in this dire times. I’m also a FSW-OUTLAND. I got response via webform on April 23rd that my application has been approved. Tho they didn’t state the exact date, but I have reasons to believe that it was approved around early April. I haven’t heard received any other updates since then. Around early May, I contacted IRCC and they again confirmed the approval, and further said the next step is for the responsible officer to email me for Passport Request. I’m aware that the novel Pandemic has taken its toll on the whole process. I’ve been following the news for any possible tips regarding what could be next. So far, the information you provided here, if true, is the best I’ve gotten so far. Thanks again! I hope June will be the ‘golden month’ for all of us.
One question please, from what you said, it appears to be that the PPR email/letter will be coming directly from IRCC now and not our Local Visa Offices? Correct me if I’m wrong.

For some inland applicants or even those ones in US, a flag pooling/crossing on the US border sounds reasonable as a landing strategy.
I saw some people were counting on the fact that border would open in a week, but it seems like we're gonna have to wait a little bit more.

Congratulations!!! I have a question. I wonder if you have heard about a letter we can get from DMV that would help ease into the driving system in Canada. This letter would help move from one level to another without waiting for 1yr to get the drivers license. Seeing that you live in the USA as I, I wonder if you got the letter and what name its called. How did you go about it?

It will still come from the local VISA office. In my case it will be Ottawa. It will as usual be sent on your email.

Yes you can get your Driving record from DMV. I have not really applied for one yet. You also need to get a detailed letter from your insurance provider in USA. Both of these will help to get the full Canadian Drivers license in certain situations immediately after you get the first class B. Having the full license saves insurance cost in Canada.
