Hello everyone,

So happy to see lots of AOR's this month. We have been silently following this forum and it has been helpful as we did our applications ourselves.

We applied for citizenship recently but haven't got any correspondence from CIC just yet... patiently waiting. Please add us to the spreadsheet.

Sorry to hear this. I had a question regarding returning of application. It looks like IRCC released new forms and calculator in Dec 2018 (which is after we submitted our application in November). If someone gets their application returned do they have to fill in the new forms all over again?

In the letter I received they have said that and Quote " If you choose to resubmit a complete application it should be completed on a version of the application form dated October 2017 or later as indicated on lower left corner of the form"

Our (mine and wife's) ecas are enabled now. We both can see two lines as below

  1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on November 8, 2018.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on January 21, 2019.

Congratulations

Thank you. I was bit worried and was prepared for the application package to get returned. Mainly because,

1. We did not answer question 17.c in application form CIT0002E-S (Qubec election stuff), thinking it is only for Qubec resident;
2. My wife left Canada only for 10 days (one trip) after she became PR. However, during the last 5 years (eligibility period) she lived outside Canada thus she cheked YES in question 9c and filled CIT0177 with N/A in most of the field (even though I am not a crown servant) - For this we wrote in a cover letter and explain that we filled CIT0177 just because the application form said so
3. Also, in my wife's physical presence calculator we listed "absent" from the day of eligibility to the day when she came Canada first. In the reason column, she explained that she was not PR at that time, and was living in the some other countries (also mention her travel during the period) - In addition to the reason, she also wrote a detail explanation where she was and what she was doing during that time.

There are few threads where people think some or all of the above are wrong. Thus, we were not sure to get AOR.

Okay so that's good because you won't have to fill and submit the whole form again. The version that we used for November applications was June 2018 which is later than October 2017. So that's fine in my opinion.

You don't need to send a new form as long the form is from after October 2017. Also it's important to check if application is not older than 90 days ( from the signed date). In that case you need to fill the form ( it can be old form as long after October 2017) and sign with current date ( same as on calculator form).

Applications received at our Case Processing Centre (CPC) in Sydney, NS on January 11, 2018 or later must use forms from October 2017 or later (indicated on the lower left corner of the form). Application forms that are not up-to-date will be returned as incomplete. IRCC does not consider the date of signatures or mailing to be deciding factors.

Note: This does not apply to applications originally received at the CPC before January 11, 2018 and returned as incomplete. These applicants are not required to resubmit a new form versions. However, they must submit any missing information or documents the CPC requests.
