Sorry that happened to you... but I am glad you were able to get it resolved with minimal fuss...Owl29 said:My weekend is so so, someone hacked my bank card back home and spend some money. This is the bank account I keep some money back in my country and I used card to shop maybe 4-5 times in one year and it still was hacked. Crazy and I noticed by accident, it is rare I check this account, so probably at the end of the month it would have been empty.
The reason why I am telling you this story is: if your loved ones after they finally will move to Canada still decides to keep some accounts back home, or property, or anything - get The power of attorney. I recommend to give someone you trust (parents, sisters, brothers, etc.) the power of attorney to all institutions that in cases of emergency it is much easier to deal locally than from Canada by phone or even to fly back. It is rare that we get rid of all the ties with our home countries, so it is nice to know that someone can take care of business while we are away. In my case I think it was the best investment ever to get power of attorney, my dad was able to fix situation at the early stage with the bank and I don't need to worry being far away with my blocked card Of course, it needs to be someone you completely trust
It's a solid tip as well...
