Congratulations to all who have received SA.

We received our SA today as well!

Our application was supposed to be forwarded to VO in Rome but it has been sent to Ottawa instead.

Specifically the email says:

You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly, the Application for Permanent Residence for your relative(s) has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing.

Should you need to submit additional information or make any further enquiries regarding the Application for Permanent Residence for your relative(s), you may contact the visa office by e-mail, fax, or in writing as follows:

CPC-O - Case Processing Centre Ottawa
CPC-Ottawa, NHQ - Centralized Processing Region
219 Laurier Avenue West
Ottawa ON
K1A 1L1, Canada

This visa office was selected based on your relative’s home address and the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

According to what I have read so far I would like to believe that it might be a good thing.

Assuming that our case might be quite straightforward, our application should be processed faster.

Does anyone have any idea?

Congratulation Lynx.!
That's really good
Is the principal applicant currently in Canada?

No, we live together outland.

I have read in the London Applicant's thread about similar cases which have been transferred to Ottawa.

I (the sponsored) hold a British passport, maybe there is some kind of connection.

supposedly it's to help certain visa offices with overflow. it doesn't have to do with where the applicant physically is. while this is usually seen as "good" because they usually only send "noncomplicated" cases to ottawa, the processing time for that office is starting to creep up to 7-8 months, rather than the 5-6 seen in the last half of 2014.

Maybe you're right, but the thing is that Rome's Office processing time isn't that bad; so overflow shouldn't be an issue for them. Who knows ...
