Welcome acapeg! Yes you should get an email from them in December sometime saying your application has been received. This is called AOR (Acknowledgement of Receipt). They will include a UCI # (Unique Client Identifier) and a File # that you can use to check your application status on the CIC website. After this if everything is good you will get SA (Sponsorship Approval) and your application will be sent from Mississauga to Hong Kong for processing. After that it's a long wait. Check the spreadsheet DuberBlue made to see how everyone else is doing in terms of time taken etc.

Good luck!

For me, it took few days before the status was updated, I guess you will soon see a table with your name (or the name of your spouse) and the mention: "application received", to indicate that CPC Mississauga as received it (with the actual day of reception, not the AOR day).

Yeah I got my AOR over a week ago but the website still only has my name, then under that:

" If you want to see the details of an application, click on the underlined status. "

But there is nowhere underlined to click, or any links. Then under that there's a check box:

"[_] Please remove the ability for me or anyone else to view the status of my application and address information on this Web site.

Note: Once you withdraw your consent, your application status and address information will no longer be available on the Internet. Learn about other ways of receiving information about the processing and status of your application and updating your address information by contacting us."

Then there is a "Submit" and "Logout" but that's all. I'm not going to click that box because I want to be able to check my info online, but that's all I see every day when I check it. I hate that box!!!

I have same status as with you Furch,, and I agree with you on hating that box,, hahah..I almost click the submit button,,,hahaha

I tried to use the Application Number from the SA and my wife's information on ECAS,, then the status showed up with "APPLICATION RECIEVED". So I guess that could work to others as well,...

Just sharing.. cause this will be a long wait for us.. :)

It might depend on the settings of your web browser. You can check it here (again add https before)

services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/redir.do?app=ecas&lang=en&redir=binfo

Also the same browser may behave differently on different computers depending on the settings. I can access my ecas at home with firefox, but not from work, with firefox too...

Thanks for the advice fabul. I was trying it again today. I tried in IE, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari and had the exact same results in each. Guess it's back to waiting... I REALLY HATE THAT BOX!!!! ARGHHHGH!!
