For those who are worried about the income level - don't worry about it. CIC won't deny a sponsor unless they are on welfare. If you're not on welfare, and have provided reasonable information about how you intend to support yourself and your family, you'll be fine. If CIC has doubts, they will ask for more information, not deny you right away. So you'll have a chance to explain.
For unemployed/housewife situation: it's also OK if it's the applicant that is likely to get a job faster because of previous work experience etc. If asked, then the sponsor can explain how the qualifications of the applicant are relevant to the work market in Canada, and how that will come into play.

Stage 1 is a fairly "easy" one : CIC will check if the sponsor is on welfare or not, criminal background, and check if they are eligible to sponsor the person (married, common law, conjugal). that's about it... the second stage is when CIC actually looks at the proofs etc, it takes much longer.

Good luck to all,
Sweden

Great Advised Sweden !!

I have never worried that my husband could get a job in Canada fast, we are already in the processing of his professional conversion stage. since pb2013 brought up a income level issue, that started worrying about my sponsor approval. But now is all clear, thank you very much!!!

Hi,

I am a Canadian PR and in the process of filling application forms to sponsor my wife from India (no kids yet), VO - New Delhi, India.

We have been married for the last 3 years (living together in India and US), and I received my Canadian PR two and a half years ago.

She is now living in India, and I have now moved back alone to Canada for permanent work, and want to sponsor my wife now.

Could you please help me with the following queries related to Sponsorship Forms:

1. Does my wife need to put date on the back of 6 passport photos? (photo taken)

2. I, (sponsor), do not need to put my passport photo in the form or include in the application?

3. Do I need to get photocopies of the documents that I submit along with our application attested/certified by notary?

IMM 5540:

Section 7: Employment History - The columns in the form do not have much space, so I am unable to put employer name, address and phone number in it.

Also, I am not able to type in my Occupation/Designation in the column provided due to less space.

Can I just include a separate sheet and put all the details in that?

Section 8: Have you resided outside Canada ? I need to write details since birth or for last 10 years?

In the end of the form, it says provide additional information about the relationship. What should I write in this?

Thanks for help.

For additional information about relationship.

1) provide chats and phone bills
2) provide emails
3) attach pic of your holiday vocation you spent together and if possible attach tickets & itinerary
4) explain how you communicate when you are away

Yes you can use additional sheets to describe your occupation, job etc. Please mention in the immigration form "sheet attached"

PB2013 it says on the spreadsheet you got your sponsorship approval after 18 days?? That is awesome! Congrats!

I hope I can get mine soon because my wife (the applicant) is currently living with me in Canada on a temporary visitor's visa, but wants to go back to China for Chinese New Year (end of January). The lawyer I talked to said unless she has the sponsorship approval letter with her that immigration probably won't let her back into Canada. I'm probably stressing over nothing... but I'm glad to see other people getting it so fast.

Hi Furch,

It is average time to get SA. Refer to October spread sheet. About TRV for wife, i would say it ill be better if ur spouse stay with u here rather than going back to China?
Did they give u multiple entry visa for ur spouse?

Thanks

Hi PB2013

Good to know yours has been approved!! Congratulations!!!

I think we are the same day CIC received our file. Do they inform you by mail or email? on the CIC processing timeline, they are working on the files received on Octorber 23, I thought we won't get anything until two weeks later...

BTW, can I check my status with receipt number (online payment , not IMM5401) through E-case?

Thanks, I checked the October Outland spreadsheet and you are indeed correct. That is awesome, BTW.

My wife and I were living in China but in July 2013 we moved back to Canada. It was her 5th time applying for a temporary resident's visa, we asked for 1 year multiple entry, and they gave her a 5-year multiple entry (nice, eh??). Maybe they were so nice because we submitted our marriage certificate with the temporary resident visa application. Regardless, we were grateful.

Our immigration lawyer said that there is always a small chance that she may be refused entry if she leaves during the PR processing time, but if she has the letter of sponsorship approval with her then it is a very small chance. Many of my lawyer's other clients have left to travel (PR applicants, not sponsors) and have had no problems. I agree that it's better she doesn't leave at all, but she really wants to see her family over Chinese New Year. I would go with her but I just started a new job and can't take any vacation for the first year :(

Hi Furch,

I do not have much knowledge about it and I wanted to apply TRV for my spouse and i heard from many people it is difficult to get the TRV. So i gave up
Of course u r lucky to have ur wife here.

Cheers

Hey November folks :)

I'll be travelling for a week, so I won't get to do much updating of the spreadsheet, but if you do send me a note, I will get to it when I return!

Enjoy!
