Well, I'm going insane here!
We haven't received anything yet but the Application Number.
I have sent an e-mail and called them, and nothing yet about the Sponsorship approval!

Same here :( We were told that the application has been received and hasn't been processed yet, and that we should hear something within a "month or so"!!!!

So, I contacted my husband's MP's office and they reluctantly said they'd "look into it". I'm waiting 48 hours before I harass them again.

My wonderful husband has great faith in the CIC and keeps saying "it'll be fine" which is almost more annoying than CIC's incompetence!

What did they say when you called?

The agent was very nice and have said she would "notify" them, but there was nothing wrong with our application.
She also couldn't understand why they are taking so long...

Are people from Dec and Jan having the same problems?!?

Hey BrazilianGirl, the application number you recieved was the UCI number? If so it would stand to reason that your sponorship must have been approved. Why would they assign you a case numberr if things went for a crap. Sounds to me like they just buggered up in sending you the sponsorship approval letter. Look at bscinto92's case......same deal. and she had been approved a couple months before the fact.......I'm sure yours is along the same lines.......and don't rely on ecas......if there ever was a scewed up process that would be it

I was reading on a forum that dec and jan were getting spousal approvals while nov wasn't finished. I think cic was notified of this and they were to fix the problem. I guess there will be a dely unfortunately.

William Coates, CONGRATS! You must be MORE than thrilled! I can't believe it took less than 4 months for CIC to handle your papers and for you to receive your VISA!! I'm very jealous. :)
It makes me wonder how they calculate the processing times. Can anyone tell me how they figure it out? Argentina is 15 months right now, but your time was 4 months!! Interesting...

The 15 months means it takes that time to process 80% of the cases that go through Buenos Aires VO. But some are processed faster, some might take longer. Straight forward cases can be processed a lot faster as we can see :)

Hi everyone,,,,,thanks for all the congrats

Hi dayver1331, Processing times depend mainly on one thing,,,,,,,Your relationship with your better half. The shorter the relationship the longer they take going through your information to determine if it is genuine or not. They have a standing order at CIC to process applications in six months or less.."you can read that in the processing manual for employees" If you have just married, communicated mainly through mail, or msn, lived apart in otherwards,,,they will go through everything that you send them.....other issues arise with the shear volume of applications recieved. Buenos Aires doesn't recieve many. Now your thinking 15 months for Buenos Aires.....I thought that tooThen I looked at the cases they handled,,,,not only Argentina,,,,they also do the applications for Paraguay and Uruguay. It wouldn't take much for the time to add up if a worker had to confirm data from another country....15 months is an avewrage for 80% of the cases ,,,not all the cases.
My case was not average...I had been living with my wife in argentina since we got married,,,,over 10 years. We have a 3 year old son and 1 year old daughter who have their canadian citizenship papers.
Not average in the sense most people get married and apply right away. They don't wait 10 years like us
Our case was just a matter of proving that I could sponsor my family once I returned to canada. The rest was straight forward,,,nothing to check or dig into...that was the reason it was processed so quickly. I know it is a stressful deal waiting,,,,,,but there isn't much else you can do but wait....Just think about whats at the end of the deal...A new life in Canada....And once again i will mention,,,,,,Do not rely on ECAS for updates,,,it will drive you nuts.......My ecas still states recieved application, medicals recieved, started processing on Feb 10..... Now considering we have the visa,,I think there might be a slight problem with the updating of the site...... ::)

@ William Coates -
I see how strong your case was. The case of my wife and I is much different.(with time) I hope you're right about the standing order of 6 months for employees as a target to shoot for. Maybe that's some encouraging news.
My wife and I know our situation has characteristics(as far as time) that are similar to other cases where they heavily scrutinize the case. BUT, we're still praying for God's grace and blessing for a quick successful decision to give my wife her Visa.
I agree with you about ECAS, I've seen on other threads that it's not reliable. You just confirmed it once again to us. Maybe it's frustrating since that's the ONLY form of communication that CIC chooses to use.(it's CRAP!)
Anyways, I hope to have an ear-to-ear smile like you(I assume!) soon once we hear about our Visa. Cheers!!
