Oh Wow! That's a little scary....Congrats on getting it moving though!

As much as I love my dear husband he is absolutely hopeless when it comes to anything like this - I mean REALLY hopeless. He's a relaxed right-brained creative musician type and I'm the process-driven left-brained science geek! He's supposedly calling CIC today and will report back what they say. Getting him to visit our MP would be an absolute nightmare....

I know the first stage is sponsor approval but it seems nuts that the applicant can't make enquiries at all, just the sponsor.

Great news though nzandcanada - well done you for making it happen!

Glad some of you finally got some news back from CIC whether it was approval or just some clarification on if your application is there/has been looked at or not.

if you are past the processing times never ever everrrr be afraid to call, because we hesitated for so long, for 2 months almost and when we finally did call they told us they already sent the approval letter to our e-mail. you never know, you could be in the same boat as i was! as far as e-cas, i agree with william coates (congratulations by the way can't believe the process is all over for you now!) it's not reliable and it doesn't really provide you with much information. i used to check it multiple times a day sometimes and now i'm down to one day a week.... lol i sound like someone who's just gone through a rehabilitation program.

Thanks!
And ABSOLUTELY! The MP's office told me that they were going to resend the letter straight away. I really recommend doing this.

By calling yourself you are at the mercy of the agent.. how much they want to investigate or if they will just tell you to wait.

For instance, I was born in Canada so I didn't have an immigration ID number, I called at the beginning of Feb and the agent gave me this number - indicating that they had done some work on my file to generate this number for me (I know now that my application had been processed by this time) - but she still told me to wait.

Nothing happened until I got my local federal politician's office to call for me...

Oh and just for general info - I got my reply from the Ottawa email address - so it really does look like a group of us were stuck there until you push them to process it!

Good news for hubby and I today (not immigration related sadly)

We've been fighting a "clinic" bill since OCTOBER - we went to a clinic that was classified as an ER for Hub's prescription refill (dumb move)...no one told us that it was going to cost $520!! We petitioned and today got a notice in the mail that the fees would be waived!! Yahoo!

Normally we go to a different walk-in clinic about 40 minutes away and it costs about $30... this one was only 10 minutes away... we're definitely making the trip from now on!

I've been meaning to post this tidbit for a while: according to the banner at the top of the forum, I've been logged into the forum for 19 hours and 30 minutes. The hours climb steadily in proportion to how much I'm obsessing and thinking about getting this process sorted and done with. Anyone else care to divulge their "hour count?" Come on . . . there's no shame in it. Highest hour count is the winner :)
Did someone win the hour count??? I think I should be in the running for November applicants!! 11 days, 3 hours and 52 minutes.. I know sad!!

nzandcanada, wow...I'm sorry you had to wait so long. But...congratulations! I'm really happy you found out about your stage 1 approval now, and good thing you went to your MP! We also got help from my husband's MP office and I found out my file is in London (London doesn't send AOR). :)

I know this might sound really stupid but I'm kinda feeling our November group is in this process together and I've been hoping everyone gets their sponsorship approval fast, because it has really taken quite a long time now and I wish they hadn't send our files to Ottawa since it delayed the processing (assuming it's like that of course). But there must be a lot I don't know of course, I'm sure they just tried to make it fast for everyone.

Wow, well I guess you're the early leader :). But from what I understand, you've also been pretty active in other threads, helping folks out, etc. So there's no shame! I actually started trying to limit my log in time when I noticed it was keeping track. When I'm done on the forum I'm sure to close the tab!

Ms Malawi wins the prize anyway for being the dutiful maintainer of the spreadsheet. Many thanks for your meticulous attention to this! Very interesting to see it progress.

Great to see that some folks are getting some action by calling on their MPs to step up. I know that in all bureaucratic processes there is some degree of randomness or poor communication, but it really seems like there are some deeper problems with the order of the process for the Stage 1 approvals. If it's for your drivers license or something, certain delays can be understood - but people have their whole life plan and hopes and dreams and relationships riding on these applications. And the fees we paid! You think that at the very least applications could be processed 'first in, first out.' Like when I buy new yogurt I rotate the old stock to the front of the fridge - I guess that's not happening with the inbox in the processing center!

It will get better . . . we'll all get through it! Just venting a little bit here really does help.
