Hi everyone,

I applied in November for Spousal Sponsorship for my hubby outside of Canada it was received Novemer 19 and I just received the letter in the mail yesterday that I am approved to sponsor him yaaay :) We are both so happy!!! I wonder if anyone knows how long it could take from here.I know it says around 12 mths on the website but does anyone know from experience? That would be super helpful.
I can't wait to have my husband here finally.

Cheers,

Len@

Hi Lena,

Welcome. If you would like to be added to our spreadsheet pkease let me know when your medical was completed and what VO you are going through.

For your question. Its anyones guess. We had one couple get through in 3 months when their listed processing time was 31 months. Depends on your VO, and then your IO and what kind of application you submitted. If it was straight forward with no children, or previous marriages and how long you have been together and the quality of proof submitted.

Hopefully there are no red flags and your application will be processed quickly!

Hi =),

and thank you. He lives in El Salvador so it's going thru Mexico. He did his medical in October they have already received it. We do have a pretty staight forward case i think. We have been together over 2 years and married over 1 year.
I lived with him in El Salvador for about 1 year after we got married and just came back end of October 2012 no children and no previous marriages =) I submitted a lot of proof like a lot. I don't even think they will need it just looking at our wedding pics should be enough to see how in love we are=)
Yes pls add me to your spreadsheet. I will keep everyone posted.

Good luck to all applicants!!!

Hi nzandcanada,

It looks like we are in almost the exact same situation (I assume from your name you're also going through the Sydney office?). Mine was received on November 22 and no word on that yet either. I had a minor panic when I first visited the forums and saw how many people whose files were received after mine were already approved... Looks like we just submitted the wrong week!

I'm in Canada but my work permit expires in May so I was really hoping for some good luck and a speedy processing... looks like that's not to be....

I don't have any advice to offer, just thought I'd let you know that I'm in the same boat! Hang in there!

Hey There!
Thanks... its nice to know that there are others out there in the same boat. My partner and I went to Auckland for xmas. He stayed there to work. We're hoping that stage 2 will be speedy... maybe we'll all get lucky in Sydney. I've heard of a few going through quickly there.
Good luck!

I wouldn't worry yet. I was in the same position with my application when it was stuck on Nov 7th. And mine had been recieved via tracking Nov 8th. Then before they moved the date past Nov 7th I recieved a mail on the 14th of jan of my sponsorship approval and that it had been forwarded to my VO in buenos aires. So its a good chance that they are already working on it and you will get some good news soon.
Thanks for posting that... its good to hear encouragement right now :)

Well I dropped off my wife's passport at the VO and discovered that the staff are on holidays now until feb 28th,,,ha ha,,,,Oh well I'm glad that they requested the passport before they went. At least now its just a matter of waiting and since I also applied for my kids passports today as well I will pick them up at the same time... :)

just a side note on processing times. I think one of the biggest factors in slowing down an application would be determining if the relationship is genuine or not. In my case we were married for ten years and have a 3 year old son and 1 year old daughter.......Obviously we have a genuine relationship and the process was quick. They recieved the application around the 21st of january in the buenos aires VO and they requested the passport yesterday,,,about 3 1/2 weeks maybe to this point,,,,,,The web site states 15 months from when Buenos Aires recieves the application...In short guys if you have things in order and lots of proof yopu shouldn't have to wait as long as the website says in some cases...the other thing is the operation manual for immigration states that they should strive to complete spousal class applications in under 6 months,,,,,,,,So keep the faith........Last note,,,don't rely on ecas for anything,,,it is woefully slow at updating, You will have your information in hand alot quicker from the VO office then you will from the ecas site..... :)

i agree... coincidentally i got my first stage approval within the processing times, of course didn't find out til way later, but other than that CIC's processing times have been all over the place. i still check the times every week and they've been remaining the same for 2 weeks at a time. i think as long as you have a good, clean history, like criminal background, previous marriages etc... and nothing was missing from your application and you gave all the additional documents necessary, then you more than likely won't have to wait as long as they state on the website. although im silly and i happen to think that just because my application had so many pages, that it's going to take them a long time to get through it all lol. i think it was close to 300 pages or more with the forms but i wonder how many of the immigration officers actually go through and read EVERY single detail we wrote in there, ESPECIALLY the phone bills cause of how much my husband and i used to talk on the phone before we lived together. i also never really check e-CAS anymore. i do sometimes but i never look forward to anything being different on there anymore because it just hasn't changed from "medical results received" in a long time.

anyway enough of me rambling, congratulations to you, glad this process is moving so quickly for you it must be a great feeling to know the wait is almost over.

thanks guys,
ya it is nice to know that things are close to being done. At least I know that we will get the PR visa. Hey bscinto92......300 plus pages for your application,,,,,holy crap. If it takes any time at alll it would be just to get through it all......Don't know how deligen.t they are but they might take one look at it and say crap,,,,,,,give her the PR visa. Definitely a relationship here lol.....I was the total opposite when I did mine,,,I only sent in the application along with a letter explaining why I didn't have the income tax form C and about 20 pictures. Guess i figured 10 years of marriage, living together and dealing with two ankle biters was more than sufficent. The biggest fear for me was the sponsorship approval as I wasn't in Canada and was only relying on a job promise and letter from my future employer. But from what I have seen in the boards most applicants are successful with very few denials,,,,,though some take longer than others or emails dissapppear and people aren't notified as was your case,,,Still remember reading about the stress levels your were experiencing......At least now you know things are moving along... :)

Hi William,
I think that the longer your relationship is and when you have kids, the less proof you need to provide...
We were in the same situation as you, 15 year marriage with 3 kids, and my hubby already got his COPR :)

Yeah you're right... I mean who can really fake 10 or 15 years of marriage... Especially with more than one child. It's going on two years this May with my husband so I figured they'd be quick to judge by the length of our relationship and thought the amount of proof I provided was needed so that I could explain how even though our relationship is only 1 and a half years old we've been through the equivalent of troubles and tribulations as a couple who's been together for 5 to 10 years lol. It was fun to put it together though because we really do have lots of stories to tell.... Then again I'm super paranoid and probably included more information than I needed to just in case ;) lol I had way too much time on my hands back then

Mine went pretty fast 83 days till passport request, went I sent it in Hong Kong send 16 months. We just gave them everything they asked for, but my wife wrote a 20 page love story about our life together. But we have only been together for 3 years, but I have lived in China the whole time.

Hi IvanP,

LOL. We definitely have met each other (and liked/loved what we saw in each other). Canadanow is my husband and seems like he decided to pull one on me here. Which he knew would have me blushing furiously.

Happy Valentine's day my love, Darrppy78!!

Maybe by the time a whole bunch of others wish their loved one's Happy Valentine's day we'll see a whole lot of progress for everyone??
