I have a random question about the passport request, just because I'm curious about it and I always like to learn more about immigration and how it works... Does anyone and everyone, no matter which country you are applying from and whether it is inland or outland, need to send out their actual passport when they request it? And if so, why do they need the passport physically in their hands? Is it so they can stamp something in there for when you are ready to land? Or do they need to just look through it and verify some things even if you sent in scanned copies of your passport pages? I'm skeptical about having to send my passport out in the mail since they aren't very cheap and it's obviously the only thing that's gonna get me in and out of Canada right now lol... I'm sure everyone feels this way when they have to send their passports out, but I'm just wondering why we have to do this cause I never knew the reason why.
