Is there a rule that one cannot get medical examination done before ircc sends medical letter?I got my medical examination done without any letter from ircc, and I even got my ppr.you can wait for ircc to send medical request letter, then get your medical done, but only disadvantage is once you get your medical done it takes 4 weeks to be processed, and that would result in longer application processing time.
Yes technically there is a rule, you went for an upfront medical, thats something that you did before submitting the online application (that's one of the processes). For someone like me who has already submitted application without a medical, IRCC is supposed to send you a letter for the same.

Below is the information on the official webpage:

"Getting an exam before you submit your application
You have the option of getting an exam before you apply. This is called an upfront medical exam. To get one, contact a panel physician directly.

You can get one if you apply to:

  • visit (including parent and grandparent super visa)
  • work
  • study
Getting an exam after you submit your application
We’ll send you instructions on how to get your medical exam done. You must go for your medical exam within 30 days of receiving these instructions.

If you don’t follow these instructions, we may refuse your application."

The above in red clearly says to follow instructions, that is why I am confirming from you out of worry.

I have tweeted to IRCC that asking when they will consider the Non-SDS applicants waiting for medical requests after their bio from India. In addition, I have mentioned as Non-SDS applicants considered so far who made upfront medical. Let see their response.

Even I did this, refer to my signature
Thanks for sharing, and congratulations on the process so far. Although I am not sure if this will work in my favor, as I wont have a strong reason like you where I can prove that I had to go to a distant city/location to get my medical done because the the medical departments for Canadian immigration in my city are still operational.

Hoping they reply to tweets. Do share when you get to know.

Otherwise the first option I am thinking is to wait for another week and raise a webform just to ask them when would send me a medical request. (I think just asking them should be counted as a negative, I guess :/ )

I too thought to ask through the webform but a bit worried about how would the reaction. So tweeted. ;) I will keep port the update if I get it.

I feel it is more like a deterrent to avoid excessive webforms rather than a actionable rule. The risk is low, but yes not zero. If you are okay with waiting for the request, then no issues. Also getting a medical request is almost a guarantee of approval afaik. For refusal cases, they always tend to refuse without requesting medical.

okay I suggested to go for medical examination because I had seen people raise web forms for medical request, even after submitting their application ,and it will save your time.Hope you get your study permit soon.

This applies for recently submitted applications or for old applications as well? My sister's been waiting for 15 weeks now since she gave biometrics. No updates, no AIP, no medical request letter.
that's not normal she should contact ircc or rise webform

fritchou, seems your country was faster in processing. We have the same timeline but mine have no update since I completed my biometrics last April 20.

my country processing time was 12 weeks before the universal update. i was surprised i got update 13 days after application. i wondered if i would have gotten ppr if i done upfrontal medicals. i was also surprised. also we don't have SDS. i ched with ircc some Vo abroad have 2 weeks and 3 week processing time. i was the only one in the vac center when i gave biometrics. so i think less people apply in my country.

That maybe the case on your country. Goodluck to us. Wish I could also have update soon.
