When selecting " Type of application/enquiry" I'm supposed to pick Permanent Residence ( applied online), but that only opens one option for me when I have to select under " continued ". This option is for EE but I applied non EE.

The only way to select non EE is if I choose Permanent Residence ( Applied by mail ), which is not what I did.

So I'm a bit confused on what options to choose.

Wouldn't a webform on this website work as well? Change or update your contact information

It's not the same kind of website from the one you sent.

Thanks a lot btw I appreciate the help.

I haven’t got my AOR yet.

If I travel after submission, do I need to send a Webform with the details of my travel?

If I visit a country that issued my PCC (not my country of citizenship), do I need to get another PCC? I lived in this country my entire life before moving to Canada, and I went back to visit in December.

Thanks.

If you travel after submission of PR application, you don't need to update them as well as for PCC if you have lived in your home country for 180 days continuously, you don't need new PCC unless requested by officer.

I called IRCC yesterday regarding our application, as we haven’t received any updates since November 23, 2024. I asked about the status of the process, and they mentioned that we can reach out to you if we need any further assistance. Today, I checked the tracker, and there was an update, but it doesn't specify any details, only showing

Is this meaningful? Should we expect any updates soon?

@Miss bee Thank you, best regards!

Usually the day after you call IRCC an update will appear in your tracker under your name in Application History. If it says “We received your enquiry” and has the date of the call then that is the update. It is nothing new and does not mean anything positive or negative.

Updated date means someone worked on your application. This is good sign . Keep eye on that tracker and if possible call them again.

Dear @Miss bee and fellow friends

My application has has been stuck in security, and I emailed MP. The email reads:

1 All your assessments are passed except security, which are conducted by third-party organizations and there is no specific timeframe for their completion

2- and your security assessment began on November 6, 2024. When military records are requested, the application automatically becomes “non-routine,”,.... checks involving police or military backgrounds often take significantly longer than others.

3-... required to wait for your security clearance results from CSIS and CBSA before they can take any action.

I know I have to wait for longer, but not sure how long it would be?
Is there anywhere that I can follow up on where my application is?
How CSIS and CBSA work? along or parallel, because the process for CSIS can be about a year....

Hi @Miss bee, me and my spouse applied for pr in non express entry. As per PR tracker, my spouse's background check is completed, whereas mine still progressing. Is it a normal scenario, where spouse's status updated first before principal applicant. Or does it mean mine background check hasn't been completed yet and still progressing. Or the tracker doesn't show real time update and it will update later for my file?

1. Timing for Submitting a GCMS Notes Request
Application Timeline: Since you submitted your application on 28th July 2024 and received the AOR on 9th January 2025, there's s typically a lag between when you receive the AOR and when an officer starts actively reviewing your file. You're re correct that the officer may not have fully reviewed the application within just two weeks of the AOR.

Ideal Timing: Its generally recommended to wait about 30-60 days after the AOR before submitting a request for GCMS notes. This gives the immigration officer time to assess your file, so the notes will contain more meaningful updates regarding your eligibility, security, or criminality checks. Since it has only been two weeks, you might benefit from waiting another 2-4 weeks before applying.

2. Filing GCMS Notes from Outside Canada
GCMS Notes Filing under Privacy Act vs ATIP:
The Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) system governs requests for GCMS notes. Under the Access to Information Act, only Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or individuals physically present in Canada can make a request. However, under the Privacy Act, individuals outside Canada can still request GCMS notes related to their own immigration file.

When filing under the Privacy Act, the content of the GCMS notes will be identical to what you receive under the Access to Information Act. Both acts provide access to the same system; the difference is eligibility criteria for filing the request. So, you can proceed with confidence under the Privacy Act.
Eligibility to Submit GCMS Notes by Yourself:

If you are outside Canada, you cannot submit the request directly unless you meet the residency criteria for the Access to Information Act.

To file a request while outside Canada:

1. You can hire a representative (such as an immigration consultant or lawyer) based in Canada.
2. Alternatively, ask a friend or family member in Canada to file the request on your behalf. You would need to provide them with a consent form (IMM 5744 or IMM 5475).

Recommendations:
1. Wait Before Applying: Since itsonly been two weeks since your AOR, consider waiting at least another month before submitting a request. This will increase the likelihood of your notes having meaningful updates.
2. Filing Process from Outside Canada:
If you wish to file the notes now, either:

Hire a Canadian representative or

Ask a trusted contact in Canada to file the request for you under the Access to Information Act with a signed consent form.
Alternatively, you can directly request under the Privacy Act using the Government of Canada official portal, which ensures you will receive the same GCMS notes.
Thanks Misbee for your detailed explanation with recommendations for filling the GCMS notes. I think its better to wait for another 30-60 days and file the request with the intention of getting the meaningful notes about (info sharing, criminality & security checks) from the officer after proper reviewing.

I will go ahead with filling the request by myself under the privacy act with ease of mind in getting the notes properly. TIA.

Sorry to bother you again. Misbee, one more clarification, If I am applying myself under privacy act still the consent form to be attached in the request to receive the updates for the spouse and kid right. Please correct me If I am wrong.
