Hello @Miss bee

I have a question regarding the IMM5669 form. In Section G (Military and Paramilitary Service), I entered “None.” However, after downloading the submitted documents for both myself and my spouse, I noticed that this section appears blank.

Interestingly, for other sections such as Government Positions or Membership in Associations/Organizations, “None” is properly displayed. This issue seems to affect only the military section for both of us.

Do you think this is a system glitch, or should I submit a web form to explain the situation and confirm that I have never served in the military?

Thank you very much for your reply in advance.
Yes this is system glitch. It won't have any issues even if you left it blank.

You can request them to process as outland application by letting them know that you don't have any TRV to enter Canada, if your application is not tied to any employment.

My nomination was tied to an employment and was on close work permit. Now am on implied status and couldnt get extension. Thats the scenario

If you declared that you are outside Canada and can't return, your application won't be refused but it will be treated as outland application where they will ask you to send passport for stamping and you can travel Canada and activate your COPR at border as PR.

Hey everyone & @Miss bee,

I applied for Non-Express Entry PR under the SINP Student Stream on February 17, 2024. My background check started in August 2025, but I haven’t received any updates since then.

I ordered my GCMS notes, and they mention that my file is currently under a comprehensive security check. Still waiting on the final decision.

Is anyone else in the same situation? Also, has anyone here lived in Turkmenistan and gone through this process?

Thanks in advance!
Hi, I am under SINP too (Iranian), submitted PR application on Feb 27, 2024, asked for CV and military records in October 2024, comprehensive security started 24 October 2024, not a single update since then (9 months).

Same here. My ADR CV and government-related forms were submitted (I worked in Education as an HR Manager). According to my GCMS notes, my background check was initiated on June 17, 2024 — it's now been over 12 months with no update. It’s honestly disheartening. Really hoping for a positive outcome

Many applicants under the SINP Student Stream, especially in the non-Express Entry pathway, have experienced prolonged delays once their applications enter the comprehensive security screening stage. Based on shared experiences from forum, it’s common for this phase to last anywhere from 10 to 16 months, and in some rare cases, even up to two years. These extended delays are usually due to the involvement of multiple security and intelligence agencies, particularly when an applicant has lived, studied, or traveled in countries that may trigger more in-depth check.Since your GCMS notes indicate that your file is currently under security screening, it’s likely still progressing, even if no updates have been provided since August 2024. Many applicants in similar positions have eventually received approval after long periods of silence. In the meantime, it’s a good idea to continue ordering GCMS notes every 30–60 days, submit periodic IRCC webform inquiries to keep your file active, and consider contacting your local Member of Parliament (MP) for a status check. While these actions may not speed up the process, they help ensure your file doesn’t get overlooked. If it continues far beyond the average timeline without resolution, you might also consult an immigration lawyer to discuss the possibility of a mandamus application.
Thanks for the insight — really helpful to see this laid out. I already contacted my MP earlier this year and ordered GCMS notes back in March 2025, which confirmed the file was still in security screening. I also requested CBSA notes in May 2025 just to get a clearer picture. It’s definitely frustrating, but like you said, staying on top of it through notes and webforms at least helps keep the file active. Hoping it moves soon for all of us in this limbo.

Same here since June 2023, my SS started from Dec 2023!
There is a backlog even in court for considering Mandamus.
seems like they are revenging people based on their nationality.

I have a bad news for you, Im on 19 months since they are doing my background check, comprehensive security with no any update of feedback. My MP did found out that they are doing military verification and irony is that I didn't even been in regular army I did civilian service helping disable persons.

Military verification? How? Do they have field agents in every country verifying these type of stuff? Probably they dispatch them from Canada to that country by foot and they swim the entire North Atlantic Ocean, otherwise 19 months SS is not reasonable

Can we raise awareness regarding this (certain countries having so long background checks, like Iran, Turkmenistan, etc)? Would it help a bit? What do you think, guys?
