Hi All,

I have heard that CIC is going to update the list of 38 occupations (NOCs)

My query is do anybody have any idea when it is going to happen and

Whether NOCs 3151: Head Nurses and Supervisors and 3152: Registered Nurses will be there in new list or they can remove? what is the possiblility ?

Thanks
harry

I am sure nobody will be able to answer this question of yours until the list is published. You just gotta wait till then.

Re: NOC List is changing !!!

this is most demanding profession in USA & Canada. Even if someone files your immigration in USA, you will get it USA immigration in 6 months. I believe same situation for Canada. Definitely won't be removed from list.

this is not legal info but a guess.
thanks.

They are reviewing the market and demand for skilled workers. In addition to that they may add or remove the occupations listed which suits them best, so wait and watch......

Hi,

I support Pooja's comment. There could be an update to occupation list (as in Aus immigration). However, No occupations in health sector will be removed from the list.

Harry, it is always better to act in advance. so go ahead and apply as soon as you can.

CIC News
Canadian Federal Skilled Worker immigration program under review.

On March 16, Canadian Immigration Minister Jason Kenney announced that the government of Canada is reviewing current immigration procedures to ensure that they continue to meet Canada’s economic needs. The review is likely to result in a change in the Federal Skilled Worker program, namely a change in the 38 occupations that are currently ‘open’ under this program.

In 2008, new instructions for processing Federal Skilled Worker applications were issued by the Immigration Minister with two goals in mind: to speed up application processing times and to meet Canada’s immediate economic needs.

Under those instructions, an application is eligible for processing if the applicant:

Has at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience in the past 10 years in one of 38 qualifying occupations, which were been identified as the most in-demand occupations in Canada at the time; or
Has been living in Canada with legal status as a Temporary Foreign Worker or an international student for at least one year; or
Qualifies for Arranged Employment with a full-time permanent job offer from a Canadian employer.
According to Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the instructions have reduced the backlog of Federal Skilled Worker applications that were in process by almost 40 per cent.

Presently, Kenney is consulting with federal and provincial government bodies to determine whether those 38 occupations are still highly in demand and whether new occupations need to be added to the list.

“The first set of instructions has had a significant impact, but our research shows it is time to revise them to make sure they continue to meet their goals,” he said.

The consultation period is expected to last until April 16, and any changes to the program will be introduced after that date. While there is no current timetable for that announcement, Canadavisa.com and CICNews.com will report on any changes to the program as soon as they are revealed.

should I send my application right away, or is it better to wait for this update first before sending in my application?

I'm curious what it mean by number 2? If I send my application, like example on April 3rd, 2010. Since it is assumed my application will reach CIO after April 10 since mail is slow, will my application to CIO need the IELTS results already, or still not?

I have looked through the link you gave, but it does not seem to have the news about the April 10 change in rules in IELTS and NOC changes. Can anybody please confirm if this news posted by another person earlier is correct or not? Please include where you got the news so we can verify as well. This is very important.
