Heĺlo.
I had the same situation. I used the same last name and first name in all my applications and it was accepted every time. I have applied for WP thrice and now I have PR also with same last name and first name. Last name is must and u can have same last name and first name. Don't leave it blank or not applicable. Ask any consultant or senior members in this forum if ur in doubt.

Could some senior member please confirm ? Even I have the same problem, on my passport there is no last name. So I am stuck here now for applying for ECA as well as creating express entry profile.

My Given Name on passport is Randeep Singh. And no surname or last name.

So someone please suggest what name should I give in Wes form for ECA ? Firstname and lastname ? Because both are mandatory.
And same for Express entry profile.

To make it easier, wouldn't it be better to get it corrected? My brother had the same issue with his indian passport, and he went to the VFS (we live in middle east) and they changed it and gave him a new passport.. he just had to do a self declared affidavit. .
though his pages were getting over in passport, which was the main cause for getting a new one... but he made sure that this error was fixed... and was very straightforward..

Actually even my passport is due for renewal, what I am worried about is that my IELTS is linked with present name which is Given Name "Randeep Singh" and Family name : i have put "-", would it not create a problem ?

Dear Client,

Please put all of your names in the last/surname field. If an error continues, put an “x” in the first name field.

Hi Friends,
I just found an authentic answer on CIC website.

What do you mean by surname?

Your surname is your family name. It is sometimes called your “last name.” If your name is spelled differently on your official documents, please write your name as shown in your passport. When filling out applications, type your surname as it appears on your passport, travel or identity document or any letters you got from the visa office or case processing centre where you sent your application (even if the name is misspelled). Do not use initials.

If you do not have a surname on your passport, travel or identity document, enter all your given name(s) in the surname field, write “not applicable” or “N/A” in the given name field.

Thanks but during SINP I have written "Not applicable" in Last Name/Surname and provided my full name in "Given Names". will this contradict when I do it other way in CIC application?

for WES and IELTS.
IN both cases , i wrote to them regarding this no surname issue.
in both cases, i was advised to use fullstop(.) or hyphen(-) as surname.

we have anaother link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/id/name/gcms.asp
which says leave first name blank and put everything in surname.

one thing is sure that everything has to be put in surname but first name should be left blank or n/a or not applicable is not clear

Thanks, so from latest 2 replies it looks like this:

For IELTS and WES: Use given name for given name and (.) or (-) for surname/family name.
For CIC Express Entry: User given name for Surname/family name but for First name got three options from all replies in this post : x or Not Applicable or N/A ??

Is my that understanding clear?
