So following a bureaucratic issue after a marriage abroad, our marriage certificates and the copies have been sent all over the country from one department to the other pending registration. From what I understood, if we get an ITA we'll have to submit proof of marriage in the country we got married at which is different from the country we live in.
I'm still trying to track them down at the moment to at least retrieve a copy.
1- Is there no chance for them to accept the marriage registration issued by my home country?
2- If I'm able to procure a scan of the copy would that be enough? Will I need to show them my original certificate somewhere down the line?

You have to upload a scan of the original marriage certificate.

Let's say I managed to acquire a scan, will I need to present the original afterwards?

No a copy is fine.

Contacted the municipality. They can issue a copy and mail it. So I guess that should cover things

If your marriage certificate is not in English, it needs to be translated by an official translator. Upload original AND translation together.

It's in English. Now another problem, I have to pay them in cash in order for them to issue another copy, no western union so I can't travel to cyprus just to get a copy (will have to if it's the last resort). Would my registration of the wedding in my home country be enough?

"If the applicant married outside Canada, a copy of a legal certificate issued by the country, the territory or the region where the marriage took place must be provided."

If you provide another document then there is no guarantee it will suffice.
