I had a family member coming to canada with me,now not coming what I do and say at landing interview?

Hey,

Can you clarify a little? You mention landing, landing for what? A TRV, PR or another type of visa? If you tell people more they can help and try to advise.

Good luck :D

If it was for PR, that's fine as long as they weren't the primary applicant (the primary applicant MUST land, otherwise none of the other applicants may land.) When their PR visa expires, they will be required to submit a new application if they wish to come to Canada in the future.

If it was for a temporary permit (e.g., a work permit) that's actually fine as well - again, as long as we're not talking about the primary applicant. If a couple file for a work permit (for one person) and an accompanying partner work permit (for the other) and TRVs for both, the applicant with the primary work permit MUST enter the country before (or with) the accompanying partner.

Are you with the caregiver program (LCP)? Because family class sponsors do not have landing interview, they are either citizens or permanent residents already. Landing interview is for PR confirmation.

As stated in one of the above posts,if you are the primary applicant of a PR application you must land before those that are listed as accompanying. I only know very little about landing for a spouse PR because I will be going through that in the next few weeks. If you are the primary applicant and your family member is listed as accompanying and they do not use the visa, then it just expires and they would have to reapply. No one can force them to use the visa, except maybe yourself.

As far as I know when you land the officers just confirm the details on your COPR and ask if there are any changes. They may ask about your family member or they may not. If they ask maybe just say they are coming later. I am sure you are not the only one who has been in this situation and maybe there is someone on this forum that may know more and comment. Try searching this site for more info, hope your family member reconsiders their choice. It would be a shame to have gone through all this and not use the visa.
